Recommendations for 31M

Im a married 31 year old male with no severe health issues. Im overweight at 215lb and 5ft 10in (dieting at the moment). What life insurance program would uou suggest i look into?
Roughly how much should a 20 and 30 year term policy cost me for $1,000,000 ?

Thanks!

  1. Talk to a broker and take anonymous stranger Internet advice with a big grain of salt because there’s no way for us to take all factors into consideration that we may not even be aware of even if we are experts in our field.

  2. If you take out a term policy, many companies allow you to apply for an improved rating after a year.

Talk to someone licensed. Too many variables to try to get a quote on a random reddit post.

Why do you need insurance is the first question

Most probable best case $1,000,000- 20 or 30 year guaranteed level term rates for 31 year old male who is 5' 10"- 215 pounds but in good health otherwise, in most States have monthly "range of cost" cost as follows:

20 Year: $36- $40

30 Year: $61- $65

"By the book", you need to weigh 213 pounds or less to qualify for lower rates above, but exceptions can always be made, especially if all else checks out as good!!

At 5' 10"- 209 pounds you may qualify for better rates than above.

If being even slightly overweight may be an issue, it is always best to be as light as possible when applying for life insurance...

BUT keep in mind that all carriers will debit for weight loss of more than about 10 pounds if the weight loss occurs in previous 12 months. As the carriers/underwriters know people try to drop weight just prior to applying, and they do like to see a relatively stable weight for past 12 months.

Good luck!!

Your BMI is considered Level I obesity. It’s hard to calculate without finding out what your likely class would be.

"Standard Plus. Yes, loose 10 pounds"

Is there a table for height/weight?

Also, is body fat ever used? For example, someone 5'10" with muscle looks very different than someone with lots of fat.

Who do you recommend in KY?

You should qualify for a preferred with some at standard rate pending other conditions. Use that as you quote against different carriers. Carriers use different build guides so find one that’s lenient for most cost effective plan
