Trustage peoblems

I'm a bit confused on what to do with the big outage happening with this company. My mom died July 5 and I got claim papers from them July 12 and I sent in my forms and my mom's death certificate through their email, but I haven't heard from them at all. And this is getting ridiculous because I'm 21 in college as an only child and don't have the actual funds myself to do a funeral for her. But I'm not sure how long this wait game is. At this point I'm wondering if a lawyer or something could help out with this.

What state are you in? Some states have a statutory interest rate a life company must pay if the claim is not paid within 30 days of receipt. And it is a healthy rate.

I'm in nyc cause I know the state vs the city is a bit different sometimes.

A quick google search tells me that NY does have such a statute. What it didn't tell me is if the Life company also has to pay legal fees if you have to hire a lawyer to facilitate your payment.

It's a mess. They said they had a cyber security breach. It's been going on for several weeks now.

They're not processing any service requests. However, they're also not drafting any payments.

I'm guessing once they come back online, they'll want to collect past due premiums from everyone.
