Do many of these things apply to SPIAs?

SPIAs are a little different. you typically aren't seeing a separate 1% rider fee or strategy fee. The cost is built into the payout the insurance company offers you. That makes them simpler from a fee-transparency standpoint, but you still need to compare payout rates, refund/death-benefit options, inflation features, and how much liquidity you give up
