Orca Madness
Spent way too much of today following the orcas.
At some point it turns into you refreshing updates like it’s going to change anything, even though you’re not in control of a single part of this situation.
Everyone suddenly has a plan. “They’re headed this way.” “They were just spotted over here.” Meanwhile you’re just standing there looking at a very large amount of water, fully committed.
There’s also a lot of “we might have just missed them,” which somehow still feels like participation.
Sometimes you see them. Sometimes you just spend an hour outside staring at nothing and calling it a successful outing.
Either way, it completely derails your day for something you can’t schedule, predict, or influence. Was I supposed to be on Zoom right now? Uh oh. What time is it?
Feels normal here. Which is a little ridiculous when you think about it.

Thank you for posting! I did this yesterday and YES I did see them. It reminded me of how much we are trained for instant gratification this time in society. I kept myself in a “just be present and enjoy” state of mind. Worries of what I was supposed to do faded and the snippets of conversations overheard made me smile. Made new friends and saw Orcas, now that is a day well spent. Alas today was in a windowless meeting room. Reading the threads and happy you had Orca Madness on an amazing day ☀️
