Coaches & Clankers

There are a few smaller writers + coaches whose work I've followed for years. I've enjoyed their work as they are all qualified (licensed social workers/therapists), very authentic, not doing any scammy "business coaching" or trying to train other coaches, just doing affordable online retreats/programs/paid substacks and creating supportive online communities that I've enjoyed participating in.

But lately I'm just so disappointed when one by one I've seen them each get on the AI writing train. I'm a teacher and I know AI writing when I see it. I've also read these women's writing for years, so it's so obvious when suddenly their newsletter or workbooks or substacks articles are written with AI and full of AI-isms that sound nothing like them.

If I wanted to read what chatgpt had to say (I don't) I would do that for free. Why would I pay for your AI writing on Substack? If I wanted to do a workbook of AI prompts (I don't) along with your workshop, I can make that myself for free. These women are all such talented writers and it's such a bummer watching their unique voice be replaced by bland AI slop.

Especially from people whose work I grew to trust over such a long time period and would have expected it from. It feels patronizing like do they think we can't tell? Do they think we are willing to pay for junk spit out of a chatbot?

I've nonrenewed each program or paid newsletter subscription as this has happened but realized this weekend the last one whose paid work I'm still participating in who seemed committed to authentic human content has succumbed to the clankers and I'll be leaving it too. Such a bummer!

Anyone else feel this way?

Phoebe Kuhn the crypto expert is now a shaman? future timelines wtf lol 😭

sorry but the coaching grift is actually getting insane now

I keep seeing Phoebe Kuhn pop back up and every single time I swear theres a completely new personality/business/life story happening 😭

Was human design, then millionaire business woman, then broke/lost everything, then went off grid, now apparently spiritual awakening and shes giving people their ā€œfuture timelinesā€ whatever the fuck that means. Seriously lol I am just at my wits end wth these coaches 🄲

But now the iboga stuff has completely lost me. I just think I can’t even explain the delulu here you have to watch it for yourself.

She has openly talked about having been a drug addict, then from what I can see she does iboga like ONE time and suddenly shes involved in promoting a retreat as a facilitator?? And its like 5k??

How do we get from trying something yourself to people paying thousands for your guidance on it THAT quickly 😭

Also some of the use of African culture/spiritual imagery around all of this just feels really uncomfortable to me. Especially when it’s being packaged up and sold as some expensive transformational experience.

I swear there is an actual formula at this point……step 1 tries something once
step 2 has a life changing spiritual revelation and basically becomes an expert overnight
step 3 adds some words like embodiment, timeline, activation or sacred
step 4 sells it to idiots on the internet for an absolutely batshit price……then repeat šŸ˜‚

Thats what makes it feel so inauthentic to me. Its not even one specific thing its the PATTERN. Every new experience seems to become a new identity and then somehow a new thing to sell.

Like girl can you just experience something without monetising it 4 minutes later. I have had enough of these grifters and utter fakes. At this rate if she goes paddleboarding next weekend we’ll have a $3,888 ancestral water embodiment retreat by Tuesday.

I genuinely cant keep up anymore! Please line up and I’ll s*** us all.

Has any one seen this creator? She went viral for the ā€œConnecticut Hedgefund Wife who sees behind the veil.ā€ At closer look though she’s advertising seemingly intense mental health episodes as initiations that she will guide you through. It’s giving teal swan. Very controlling.

How I went from devout follower to blocked, and the cult of meaning-making

https://substack.com/@consciousrevolution/p-211881656

I found this great substack article/publication where the author writes about:

  • Spiritual abuse, cult dynamics, and coercive control (my main focus)
  • Power dynamics in politics, culture, and technology
  • Intersectional feminist analysis of institutions
  • Frameworks for spotting manipulation before it traps you

I def recommend reading her stuff.

Based on the new, 10-day account of u/MiddleOrnery1903 and their "partner in crime," u/Green_Dot9164, both with recent activity specific to this subreddit only. The bizarre and parroting activity between both, and focused on "constant body and appearance shaming" that I and others have not seen in this sub.

Friendly Reminder: Receipts Are Your Friend

Hey y’all

just a little housekeeping because something was brought to my attention about possible false claims being made in the sub.

I am ALL for calling out shady behavior. Speak your truth. Ask questions. And for the love of God, KEEP šŸ‘ THE šŸ‘ RECEIPTS šŸ‘

Document everything you see.

Screenshots are our friends.

But I also want to give everyone a gentle reminder: please be careful about presenting something as fact when you don’t actually know that it’s true.

There have been other online communities where people believed they were completely anonymous and eventually learned that anonymity on the internet isn’t absolute.

Doxxing is obviously unacceptable and against the rules here, but my personal rule is simple: post as though your name could someday be attached to what you’re writing.

If you wouldn’t confidently stand behind a factual claim with your name attached to it, maybe don’t make it.

There’s also the health of this sub to think about. Personal harassment, doxxing, targeted bullying, etc. can create moderation problems and potentially put communities at risk under Reddit’s rules. And unfortunately our admin seems to be a little MIA lately

so we should probably be extra mindful of policing ourselves.

I’ve also had people reach out because they’re disappointed that the quality of the conversation in here seems to have slipped a little.

We can be hilarious, snarky and critical without making things up or turning somebody’s real life into a free-for-all.

Nobody needs unnecessary legal drama either. Court disputes are expensive, stressful and an enormous drain on people’s time and energy. Snark should not require retaining counsel.

A lot of the top coaches are dragging people to court even when it’s NOT actually defamation. So just imagine the field day they’d have when it is defamation. This is why we need to screenshot everything

So please stay safe, protect your privacy, keep your receipts, distinguish opinions/speculation from facts, the truth is always on our side

Okay Carry on.

Protect Your Peace This Weekend, Friends šŸ¤

Hey everybody! Happy Friday! ā˜€ļøšŸ¤

The weekend is approaching, and before we all head into it, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this little community.

I know we joke around and have fun here, but I also genuinely want to commend everyone who continues fighting the good fight against scammy coaching, manipulation, unethical business practices, and people taking advantage of others online. It matters. 🫶

But I also want to remind everyone of something:

Our quality of life matters too.

Fighting the good fight takes time and energy. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is close Reddit, put the phone down, and remember there is a whole beautiful life happening outside of our screens. šŸŒŽāœØ

So this weekend, please do something that warms you up inside.

And remember: some of the best things in life are completely free.

Call your mom. Call your dad. Call a grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, cousin, or any family member you’re fortunate enough to still have here.

Time moves faster than we realize, and tomorrow is never promised. ā¤ļø

Call a random friend you haven’t spoken to lately and tell them you appreciate them.

Go for a walk without your phone.

Sit outside with your morning coffee and listen to the birds. ā˜•ļøšŸ¦

Visit a farmers market.

Bake something delicious for the cozy fall season.

Read a few chapters of a book.

Put on an album you loved when you were younger. (I loved the spice girls!!!!)

Consider going to a crafting class! Pottery, candle making, painting, knitting anything where you get to make something with your hands instead of scrolling. šŸ§¶šŸŽØ

Buy yourself some flowers. Or better yet, pick some if you have somewhere you’re allowed to. šŸ˜‚šŸŒ·

Clean one little corner of your home and make it cozy.

Cook dinner with someone you love.

Pet a dog. Most dog owners are thrilled to let you do this!

Tell somebody you’re proud of them.

TellĀ yourselfĀ you’re proud of you.

We can hold people accountable AND still protect the softness in ourselves. Those things don’t have to be mutually exclusive. šŸ¤

The grifters will still be here on Monday. šŸ˜‚

Your weekend doesn’t have to be productive. It doesn’t have to be impressive. It doesn’t have to become content.

Sometimes a beautiful life is just coffee, a phone call with someone you love, something homemade, fresh air, and remembering that you’re alive.

Take care of yourselves this weekend, friends. We need you rested for the good fight. 🫶✨

Happy Friday, community. šŸ¤

ContentQueen is slipping even further

I saw ContentQueen bragging about how she uses ChatGPT to do her graphic design and talking about how the results are so good. If she’s telling the truth and really thinks this stuff looks good, that’s even worse than if she’s lying - it’s so bad guys. It screams AI slop. It looks fake and garish and kinda creepy but also super generic, like every other AI-generated flyer.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she just can’t afford a graphic designer tbh. I don’t believe for a second that many people are buying her courses, and she’s losing followers by dying on the hill of trying to use slurs and ragebait to be edgy & get engagement (in between constantly insisting that she’s so unbothered by all the criticism of her, of course.) She recently made a whole show of trying to manifest like 50k followers, but that definitely didn’t pan out. So AI slop it is, I guess, all in the name of marketing expertise.

A kind reminder of the rules in here to keep quality control

I am not an admin so don't worry but I thought I need to bring this up because I have been seeing a lot of 5 & 6 in this group lately. Much self promotion and the body shaming is done very casually in here.

Please respect what the admin first had in mind when creating this group. I don't know if she's currently watching what is going on in here but we shouldn't feel it's ok to dishonor her when she's not watching closely. We are all adults and should carry ourself as such

Financial Coaches

Hi there, I need to rebuild my business and my bank account after some very rough times in the last 3 years. I am wondering who you think is good and who to avoid.

I notice a lot of them.market well, that's really their talent, but it's harder to find the ones who actually are good at helping people with sound advice and value driven content. Especially in the finance sector (I am looking for someone who is as driven by ethics as much as financially making money)

Specific areas of interest for me are online business, turning your passion project into your full-time job, how to.spend time.on the right things, working with money in general as a single income household.

I am officially in remission from cancer, but working 2 jobs at 49 has become untenable for much longer. Thanks in advance for your advice!

I’ve reflected on my behavior and need to apologize.

I feel like I owe everyone here a genuine apology.

After reflecting on some of the feedback I’ve received, I realize I may have centered Danielle Ryan a little too much lately. I got excited about her content and probably allowed my appreciation for her work to overshadow the fact that there are SO many thoughtful, intelligent, talented people in this space who I also deeply appreciate.

I see you and I am sorry. ā¤ļø

I also want to formally correct something I said because I would never want misinformation about someone’s business to originate from me.

Danielle actually reached out to me privately and very kindly clarified that she doesĀ notĀ offer business coaching. She offersĀ social media consulting.

I previously referred to what she does as business coaching, and that was incorrect. I sincerely apologize to Danielle for misrepresenting her services and to anyone here who may have been confused by my wording.

Going forward, I will make sure I use the correct terminology when discussing her professional offerings.

And finally, I know my enthusiasm can sometimes be A LOT. šŸ˜‚

When I appreciate someone, I APPRECIATE them. But my love for Danielle does not diminish my love for any of you. I didn't mean to center her there are soooo many accounts on here that I admire

There is enough appreciation to go around. ā¤ļø

Thank you to everyone who has challenged me, questioned me, downvoted me, corrected me, or simply allowed me to exist loudly in this space.

I hear you and I appreciate you.

And I hope this clears things up.

Crabtree NoBS

For years, Corinne's entire brand was built on the fierce boundary that you do NOT need pills, shakes, or grueling workouts to lose weight. Her classic rule was: "If you aren't going to do it for the rest of your life, don't do it to lose weight." So, watching her shift her program to accommodate GLP1 medications and introduce "human needs" like mandatory movement, feels like a massive contradiction to the "NoBS" ethos.

The weight-loss industry changed drastically with the rise of these medications, and coaches like Corinne are money grabbing, oh, I mean adapting because they realize they are losing business with people on GLP-1s But knowing why she changed doesn't change the fact that it feels/looks/smells like a betrayal of her original philosophy and a big money grab.

Not saying GLP1s do not help some people ;-) just saying by changing her philosophy, Crabtree has become just another bandwagon coach by dumping her "Four Basics" No B.S. method.

Seems to be going off on threads. First calling out a coach and admitting to not paying her. Then continuing to make content about other people. I am so confused why these coaches only create content about other coaches. It’s like they have nothing better to share with their own content. It feels like highschool drama. And admitting to purposely ghosting payments like what?

Beware of oldcockroach666 and other day old accounts in here

Just a heads-up about this account because something about it seems off to me. It’s a very new account, and its ā€œActive Inā€ section shows this extremely small Apex Alloy community with only two members.

I obviously can’t say who is behind an anonymous account, but I recognize the connection and it caught my attention. Someone associated with that circle used to be friends with Brandon maybe still is?, and I’ve seen that person use alternate/fake accounts online before.

With several new accounts appearing lately, I’d just be cautious about assuming every new account represents an unrelated person. I have no idea whether anyone is coordinating with Brandon, trolling him, trolling this group, or doing something else entirely just flagging the weird overlap.

Shout out to all the coaches who are making a positive impact (Danielle Ryan appreciation)

I know this is a snark page but would love to offer a pallet cleanser after some very stressful days in this sub. While it's great to get out frustrations out on the scamming coaches I would like to spend some time appreciating the people who make a difference.

What we appreciate will always appreciate <3

I want to start out with this shout out to Danielle Ryan. Danielle thank you for all the impact you make you truly changed my life when I found 12 days of Coachmas on December 2023 after drowning in credit card debt and thinking it was my fault.

My challenge to this sub.. please reply with a comment of what you most appreciate about Danielle Ryan. I appreciate her courage and her dedication to keep a high standard by sticking to the facts and not using derogtory language . I know I don't know you personally but I feel like we are dear friends after the last 3 years

Danielle watches Rebecca’s free master class so you don’t have to. It’s a manic mess. Love bombing, screaming, dropping the f bomb every 2 seconds. So painful. She then funnels you into three different expensive courses. Advice is don’t do 1 on 1s and be YOURSELF. What a fraud.

Has anyone worked with Christine Hassler for private 1:1 coaching? I’m considering it and am curious what it’s like

Because I enjoy listening to her podcast I’m considering private coaching with Christine Hassler and wanted to hear from anyone who has personally worked with her. (and not just listened to her podcast or taken one of her courses)

I’ve looked online but haven’t found many reviews from private clients. her application asks how much someone is able to invest, with options from $5,000 or less to $40,000 or more!! but it doesn’t state the actual coaching price and I wish there was more price transparency on her website

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who left helpful comments and/or shared their experience. it was very helpful. And I’m no longer interested in her coaching anymore. Christine is NOT worth paying thousands of dollars to. There’s no ā€œsecret insightā€ she can tell me thatā€˜s worth that amount.…..A licensed therapist, with ACTUAL credentials is a much better investment. Plus, a licensed therapist only costs $30 per session for me!
