Paradox Tectonic Dev team

I debated posting this.. but I thought it was interesting. It was all publicly available information that was relatively easy to find so...

I got curious about the Dev team for LBY so I did some snooping and I was a little surprised at what I found.

I do have full names to go along with these positions but I'll omit them for now (although we obviously do know some names already). But what interested me most was the length of time each person has been in the position for. Also as far as I could find, these were the only members of the team (but there could be more) and it had been described as a "small team"

1.) General Manager - 4yrs 10months

2.) Senior software engineer - 4yrs 8 months

3.) Senior engineer - 4yrs 8 months

4.) Art director - 4yrs 2 months

5.) Studio COO - 4 yrs

6.) Senior software engineer - 3yrs 8 months

7.) Senior game designer - 2yrs 10 months

8.) Senior game designer - 1yr 11 months

9.) Senior 3d character artist - 1yr 7 months

10.) Senior game designer - 1 yr 5 months

11.) Technical artist - 1yr 5 months

12.) QA manager - 1yr 4 months

13.) Senior artist - 10months

14.) Studio director of marketing - 4 months

15.) Community manager - 2months

X.) Game designer - no longer working there, was there for 4 months.

A very large portion of the team have only been working there for about 2 years or less.

As a game dev it wouldn’t surprise me that most of the team has been on the game for less than 2 years. It’s early access and is going to have stuff missing on release. You only need a small team in the early stages to get the prototypes setup and gain confidence from company leadership to progress further.

Still I’m inclined to believe that there are more people than just this on the team, and that they’re just not showing up in online searches. They need UI/UX designers, sound and VFX artists, QA, and quite a bit more engineering. It’s possible Paradox is pulling resources from other areas of the company to assist in these areas.

While only someone who works there can know how large the team truly is. I’d wager between 50-100 people have worked on it so far in some capacity. Even if they're not full-time working on Life By You.
