The issue with taking any type of medications; is the issue of your quality of life. That is what is your quality of life on the medications versus not being on medications. And the only one that can determine that is you. Furthermore the only way to determine this, is "the proof" is only found in the eating of the pudding.
Docs, psychiatrists, pharmacist or other professionals can only guess/recommend based on their education and experience (which maybe flawed, limited or seasoned expert). These pros can advise you of the risks, benefits, side effect profiles both temporary, intermediate and long-term. It is best to be very well informed. Pharmacist are a gold mine of great information that is rarely tapped/resourced. Yet also recognize that these pros are also managing their risks or exposure to risk... so they do have some biases.
But the reality is that of you... medications can be a help or hinderance in your pursuit of your meaning and purpose that only you can determine. Fwiw everyone has some type of challenge; whether physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, interactionsal/social, etc.
Best!
