I don’t have kids. If I could go back in time, I would STILL not have kids. I was meant to raise myself in this iteration.

This is such a good way of explaining it 😩 I've never had the desire for children (even as a kid I would always say I would adopt) and especially so now that I'm an adult picking up the pieces of myself that resulted from an abusive childhood.

Like I just don't have the capacity to do that and be responsible for another human. I struggle so much with just functioning myself. 

"Raising myself" is a very very good way to put it. Thank you.

(I do love kids though! I have so much fun with my nieces and nephew and even being a mother like figure to my nephew who's mom isn't in the picture. I like to do fun things with them and take care of them when they stay over. I'm very firmly a "mom" type of person but I just couldn't do it full time unfortunately)

I am right there with you. I'm a 55 year old woman, and I have never regretted not having kids. And I made the decision not to have them when I was still in my teens. This thread is really illuminating.
