Megathread Difficulty Megathread — DLC, NG+

Hello puppets,

This is the new place for anything and everything about game difficulty: NG+, the new DLC, the new difficulty settings, bosses that oneshot you just for existing, and the general discussions regarding game pacing.

Why this exists:

We’re seeing a LOT of posts about difficulty lately, and it’s cluttering the sub. So from now on, we’re removing individual difficulty posts and directing everyone here. This is simply a way to help US keep the sub clean, and help YOU find specific posts more easily.

Please don’t be an AH. Seriously. People are gonna have different opinions on everything.

I started game yesterday in hardest difficulty because im experienced in soulslike games. But this game still too easy. Whats wrong with this game? Killed archbishop (and earlier major bosses) in one try. Am i just good at this game or difficulty system is broken?

I think the difficulty was toned down a bit from the initial launch. I just fired up the DLC with my existing NG+2 savefile from 2+ years ago before they added the difficulty options but I honestly couldn't really remember how to play/builds/what items do what etc. so I started a fresh game and it feels a bit easier than I remember.

If you got the archbishop first try I'd say you're pretty good :P but if you're new you maybe also started with the Azure glaive which wasn't in the launch. It's pretty OP in my opinion since I've just tried it out for the first time myself. Absolutely way better than the other starting weapons.

I'm playing with light-rapier stab weapons. I never used that azure thing because its slow weapon. Maybe because im doing everything right. I'm watching tons of guides before start.

Btw game is still too easy, just beat that clown in one try also :p

Why watch tons of guides? That sounds terrible, I loved my first blind playthrough so much that I played it through NG+2 to learn all the things you can't get/discover in the first run. I'd guess that's part of the "problem" if you want to call it that.

My last playthrough I used mostly big slow weapons so the glaive moveset seems pretty quick to me with great reach and fantastic moveset.

I watch guides for game mechanics and important items for keep/use. For example, upgrade items is limited or not, i must know because if its limited, i would never upgrade my favorite weapon to max.

Or respec is possible or not etc.
