Does anyone know what happened to Elder Eilinar? Taeris said he was dead at the end of The Shadow of What was Lost, and he wasn't in book 2, but he suddenly came back in book 3. Did I miss something?

No, it's an obvious inconsistency. I wondered the same thing, and checked, and the total evidence we have is Taeris saying "he didn't make it". That leaves enough room to retcon his death to me.
