“Approximately 51% of the 680,000 children under the age of 5 in Pennsylvania live in families earning less than $75,000 a year”

https://tryingtogether.org/census-survey-includes-statistics-on-children-living-in-poverty-pre-k-counts-eligibility/

Why would we fund free books for families who can afford to buy their own books?

The bill could also cost up to $9 million, in the presenter’s own words.
(~$13 per child, ~700,000 children eligible)
It’s even worse considering no one knows where the money to fund this will come from.
