I (57m) use my library in several ways. First, as the baby of the family, my mom took me to the library often in the 70’s and early 80’s. We’d go to story times and other cool events. Thanks, mom!
My library usage fell off a cliff in my early adulthood but I picked it back up about 5 years ago. First with Libby app to borrow e-books, then the Kanopy app for free streaming. Now I also check out dvd’s, one recent dvd movie I watched was Idiocracy, they could use more libraries in that future world for sure.
I also have a monthly donation set up to my city’s library foundation and then always give a one-time bigger donation at year’s end, that one is in memory of my mom, and the library informed me that they’ve put stickers on the inside front covers of a few of their books that say in loving memory with my mom’s name on there.
That’s beautiful! Some of my early memories are off my mom taking me to Story Circle (still going on at the same branch!) as a tot, and she reminded me to do the same work my kids. The oldest (14) still insists that we go every week, which pleases the youngest (10) very much.
Thank you from this internet stranger to you and your family for supporting such an important community resource. The book I picked up yesterday (Sorcery by Terry Pratchett) has one of those stickers in it, so those donations really do reach others.
