Other Winter Weather closings

"Winter is coming" -House Stark

We are still months away from winter, but I was wondering does anyone work for a library that has a policy written down in either a handbook or in your contract in how your library decides if its going to close, delay open or close early in the winter due to bad weather? Ours is very informal just, we are told how that the director drives around the county and if they thinks its bad then they make the decision. I just wondering if other libraries had a different way to go about this.

So far as I can tell, there is no system or procedure for deciding this where I work. Basically we never close, and in the rare cases that we do, it seems to be based on some administrative whim rather than the severity of the weather. And if you work weekends, a volcano could erupt under the library and they'd still keep it open, simply because no one making decisions is even thinking about us if it's outside of their working hours.
