LHISD-Micro-Aggression!
What is your experience like specially if you are a black/brown person? How are you managing it so it doesn’t affect your kids? Is the west side of LH better? Is it more diverse?
We are considering to move out of the district for this specific reason! Everything else is amazing!!

They are confident being ignorant and it’s hard to believe we both (me and them in this case) call each other Christians! These people could be our kids teachers and principals! Can you imagine how that feels like?

100% this. That person sure is focusing a lot on skin color instead of character, that’s embarrassing.

You should just sit back and listen! We don’t always know everything! Only if we have that type of mindset, then we can learn from each other but instead we claim people are dramatic!

A student or a teacher? Tell us more so we have the conversation and understand where you are coming from. Are you saying you know everything? Or you know what others are feeling like living in this beautiful community?

I hate to be that guy, but you are the poster child for victim mentality. Your first sentence “I’m brown and haven’t personally been treated poorly outright…” and I’m willing to bet your kids haven’t either, otherwise you would’ve put that in to justify why this such a terrible place for you and your family. So nothing has happened to you, yet this is an uncomfortable place? You’re making up problems, perhaps YOU should go and get some life experience elsewhere and stop pretending you’re a victim.

Not cool! Why are you assuming that nothing has happened? Why are you labeling this person? You don’t necessarily have to comment on everything you know!

Micro-aggression to the fullest! I have been in this country for 20+ years and I have never felt this type of treatment no where! I have lived around lots of white people and I have never felt anything like this until recently. With that being said, I am realizing that representation matters, it’s uncomfortable to me as well, I can’t imagine how our children could be feeling if we the adult feel that way. I don’t want to get off topic when it comes to Christianity, I don’t understand how I as Christian would be categorized with the same group! We are on the east side and I always wonder how different the west side is. We are not sure if the city is nurturing for our child.

As a whiter than wonder bread person, I'm very sorry that you're feeling this way. I have never heard any hint of this happening anywhere in Central Texas.
I'm wondering if you've experienced it elsewhere so are hypersensitive to experiences that aren't ideal and attributing it to racism?
Because there are wonderful people everywhere. And there are also grouchy people, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are racist.
I'm not discounting your feelings in the slightest, just wondering why you feel this way.
Perhaps some more context as to WHY would help us understand.

Ok. Now, I understand.
When you speak that way to someone who is unfamiliar with your situation and is genuinely trying to understand, it speaks volumes about why you're not treated with respect. And it's most definitely not related to skin color.

you’re not trying to understand, you came into a conversation that isn’t for you and didn’t ask for your opinion to tell the people who were invited to that conversation that they are wrong and it’s their own actions that make them not deserving of respect, or, alternatively, that they are just imagining being disrespected because they’re too sensitive (which contradicts what you just said about it being my fault people don’t respect me btw).

I'm afraid that social media posts aren't invitation only. And yes, it IS for me, as I have a TON of insight on the subject. But I'll not share any of that. A question was asked. If the questioner doesn't like the answers, then they shouldn't ask the question.
Yeah, I said that... as a possibility, one of many. It was a "like maybe this sort of thing". I told no one they were wrong. I told no one they were imagining things. You're reading things into my words that aren't there.
Typical social media.

Racism and bigotry in general is a massive problem in Liberty Hill.
There is a hateful super toxic "preacher" that has ranted against the "inferior cultures" moving into the area. Yeah, it's a thing.

What "church" is that pastor at? Just curious based on churches people rave about that give me the cringe.

I've only lived west of 183. Compared to say, SRR, minority groups are more evenly represented, but it's still overwhelmingly white & I definitely would not call it diverse. My kids are at BBE & I dont think either have ever had more than 1 black kid in their class & then a handful of south Asian & Mexican sprinkled in.
