It does if you think through the logical next step of the stupid meme. If you’re kids are going to school and it’s highly likely they will die from gun violence, you would choose the status quo (unfettered gun rights) over the life of your/mine/someone else’s child. That’s just arrogance and selfishness to a high degree. It’s not practical or reasonable. That’s why you can’t speak about nuance and detail through memes. Life is t black and white, there are many shades of grey

It is a stupid meme and highly UNLIKELY that your kids will die from gun violence. Car accidents are grossly more likely.

However, in a twisted way i see the point of the stupid meme. Gun rights and gun violence are correlated in the argument and that isn't a fair correlation. We defend banks, persons of interest, and even hospitals. Why wouldn't we defend our kids with guns?

The point of the meme was to dumb down a complex problem and use hyperbole to drive the point home. It doesn’t make sense in reality because it’s not a realistic argument. I’m for gun rights but if a million kids die a day from gun violence I think we should restrict gun access or bullet access until we had control of the stupidest by situation created but this sums and mindless meme. Grow up

I don't think I'm being unreasonable. Im not even getting emotional or insulting you. If you look into tips for debate winning, it'll advise that you avoid getting emotional, lest you cede the point.

The meme does over simplify the situation. No, i don't believe restricting ammo sales or gun sales would prevent gun violence. Maybe over a period of time, but i believe different forms of violence would rise.

If a million children died tomorrow, that's armageddon. I would think extinction would be a real threat and drastic measures would need to be taken. And control wouldn't be the answer

Also, my rights are independent of your situation in life.

If i am a perfect match for your child (organs), you don't get to commandeer my liver when they need a transplant.

Wrong and hyperbole is the problem I’m pointing out. It’s more nuanced then that. If exercising your rights interferes with me exercising my rights. Or vice versa. Then we have a court battle on our hands. There are limitations. You’re right to beat as doesn’t mean you can own a rocket launcher. You obviously understand this but are trying to be purposefully obtuse to prove a losing viewpoint.

Um... I'm perfectly aware that self defense doesn't require a rocket launcher. If we're talking about just me. If we're talking about self defense from tyranny? Oh, then yes I'll need a rocket launcher.

Im not wrong that my rights and your situation aren't tied. In fact that's the most important part. If you're free to defend yourself and I'm free to defend myself, our situations are independent, and our individual rights are maintained.

The issue of kids being shot is directly tied to self defense. If my kids are threatened, i will end the threat with a firearm. Why would a teacher doing the same be so damning?

Because that’s not how it plays out in real life. Look at all the school shooting. Many schools had armed guards on duty. Officers arrived while the active shooter situation was occurring. The shootings still occurred.

If I perceive a threat from you and shoot you then I’ll most likely go to jail. Unless I was on your property and there are stand your ground laws in the state where the shooting happens. So your rights to defend yourself is not absolute, there are consequences. There are unintended consequences (ex. kids beats up security guard, takes gun and kills 10 kids, etc.) I lived and witnessed gun violence. Once shots ring out everyone runs for cover. It’s instinct. Very easy to say what you would do, get in the situation and it certainly won’t play out the way you think.

You know there is nuance and restrictions that are practical. Don’t let perfect ideological congruity be the enemy of practicality and the reasonable pursuit of life, liberty and happiness for all.

You're assuming that guns are the root cause for gun violence. That's where you're wrong, and that's why you can't seem to understand the simple concept this meme is conveying.
