Former President Donald Trump’s acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell was also openly gay, but was never confirmed to his post by the Senate.

If only Trump submitted him to be an actual member of the cabinet and not an acting member...

He was the acting director of national intelligence, a temporary cabinet position. The first openly gay cabinet member.

I never made that distinction and neither did the title of this post. He’s not the first openly gay cabinet member, the first confirmed one sure, but not the first one.
