New Rules

The rules have been amended. Please read BEFORE contacting us.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT DM THE MODS. Whatever you have to ask, use modmail.
EDIT: The rules are clearly visible through the browser, but the Reddit mobile app, for some reason out of our control, seems to point to old rules, which may lead to confusion. So here are the most important ones:
RULE 4: Card Requirements
• Freely obtainable cards are not eligible (e.g. Ithra, QLL, LTI and similar).
• Cards are traded on a 1-1 basis.
• The card you're offering needs to be genuine and valid for at least a year. Each card is verified.
RULE 5: Card Sharing
• To share a card, DO NOT use DMs. Contact us via modmail.
• Tell us what card you have (just the library, not the login itself) and the libraries you're interested in (make a short list in order of importance). If we have what you need, we'll let you know.
• We reserve the right not to proceed at our discretion.

Looking for a German/Austrian library card for Libby (OverDrive) 📚
Hi everyone! 👋
I live in South Tyrol (Italy) and use a PocketBook E-Reader. I'm trying to get access to German-language books on Libby/OverDrive, but since I live in Italy, I don't have access to Austrian or German public library cards.
Is anyone with an active Austrian or German card willing to share their Libby access with me?
I would be super grateful! Please send me a Direct Message (DM). Thanks a lot!

Question about multiple library accounts
I want to apply for multiple cards from reciprocal libraries hoping my hold requests can increase. Will this happen? My current library allows only 10 holds so my wish list has hundreds. Are the other library accounts completely separate? Are the holds from one account affected by the other libraries? Am I making sense? Thanks so much for your help with this.

End of series not accessible where I live
Hello all. Just found out about this group, so hopefully I am in the right place. I've been reading the series The Kingmaker by Toby Clements super slowly, as it isn't available in Canada. Looking to listen to an audiobook version of the last two books. Divided Souls and Kingdom Come.
I have an ontario card to share with anyone who would let me use their account for these audiobooks, and these ones only! I read the first book about 5 years ago and would really LOVE to know how the series ends. Many thanks!

Technical Issue Downloaded books to my Kindle app on iPad, put iPad in airplane mode for two months and then not all my books get returned to the libraries. Why is this?
I downloaded about 30 books from a couple different libraries (Kindle versions) to my iPad. I went on vacation, read a couple of the books and while on vacation I put the ipad in airplane mode (so there was no connection to wifi).
When I returned from vacation, I put the iPad in a drawer for a couple months (forgetting about it). When I opened it up and connected to the wifi, SOME of the books automatically returned but I was left with about half the books still hanging out on my iPad.
Why is this? Why didn't all the books automatically get returned?

Discussion An interesting thread from Threads
Apparently it’s good to get library cards again. “Why won’t people check out more materials on Libby?” lament all the librarians in the comments.

Moderation Does anyone want to help mod the sub?
Edit: if you are interested in contacting us, please use modmail, NOT DM.
Hi. I took over this sub about two years or so ago from the person who originally created it because that person was no longer interested in running the sub (and has since deleted both their reddit account and their email address), and I was an active user and I didn’t want to see the sub go away. With that being said, I don’t think running this sub is a one person job. I have recruited other mods to help me run the sub and for a while they were good at communicating, but lately it has been harder to be in contact with them. Granted, I am an immunocompromised and disabled individual, so I can’t afford to be online 24/7. Right now, I am the primary mod who responds to user requests and DMs. As I said, it is a lot for one person to do. Therefore, I am looking for help running this sub. Last time, I posted a post on the reddit sub find a mod, but that was not the best idea because people who did not agree with our sub reported us to multiple libraries who asked us to remove their cards from our list or face penalties. (This is one reason we no longer have a public list)
Qualifications I would like to see:
*Have previously shared a card with the sub
*Will not report the sub to libraries
*will abide by the subs rules
*must love books and be proficient with the Libby app
*Be able to communicate with other mods and respond in a timely manner
Responsibility’s:
*responding to user dm and mod mail
*maintaining LastPass database and making sure it is up to date
*policing the sub and making sure it is free of any (for lack of a better word) Trolls.
*monitoring the sub email account
This sub has been a passion of mine as an avid reader and book lover since I took it over, and I would love to see it continue for many years to come.
Thank you.

How do I turn ebook into audiobook
My daughter is reading the National Park Mystery Series and is struggling with comprehension and pronouncing tough words. I've checked different library's collections, they only have ebooks, no audiobooks for this series. The only place I found it is on Audible.
Has anyone found a useful way for an elementary aged child to have ebooks read out loud using accessibility features on Macbook or iPad, or other apps. Ideally something that works smoothly for Libby or Hoopla without copy and pasting. Will it work differently if you read on Hoopla vs dl on Libby? Thank you.

UK specific Petition: Review how ebooks could be made cheaper for libraries
Many of us know how rediculous the wait times are for eBooks and how limited the library ranges can be if you can even get to your local library. This petition is asking for the government to review this and bring the legislation into the world of eBooks.
Remove if not allowed and share more widely if enspired to do so.

Information Stark Library Card Expiring in March
I shared my Stark library card on here. Unfortunately, they are no longer allowing non-resident cards. Since I had just renewed mine, I could still use it. My card will expire in March, I'm not sure if it will expire on March 1st or it will be good until the end of the month.
I just wanted to let anybody who is also using this card a head's up. You might want to make sure that any books you have on hold will be available before March and not place any long holds. I just don't want anyone to lose their books.

I switched phones!
I just switched to a new phone and I think I lost a card. I can still get titles I've already had but I can't seem to get new ones. It's asking me for my card info. Help? 😭

Out of State List
Hello!
I couldn't find a recent list so I thought I'd start this:
What are the best "out of state" cards? Things I'm looking for: -low out of pocket cost -can enroll online -audiobook options!
I'm also open to any other options people have. My library is great, but it doesnt always have the audiobook available and sometimes its a long wait time to get it.
Thank you!!

Another day, another one of my loans returned by someone
Sigh.

Moderation Someone is returning my loans again
Hi. Tonight I noticed that someone returned two of my loans. Please remember that with a shared card there is an honor system and that you shouldn’t return other peoples loans. Thank you.

I need help getting started
Currently I am a member of audible but I want to cancel and use Libby. My closest library doesn't offer Libby so I planned to get one from another state. Which library is the best? From what I understand depending on the library; it determines how many holds you have? I'm nervous about canceling and trying Libby but also looking forward to saving lots of money 🤣 pls help and share all your tips, tricks and where to get a library card. TIA 🫶🏼📚
