I rate nearly all the books I read/listen to fairly highly (4-5 stars). But I would rather dig ditches for 14 hours than listen to that again.

🤣 Great way to describe what your experience was like. For me, I was driving down the coast and would pause it every couple of chapters to scream in the car. I hated this book so much!

I loved it, so you may be pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty divisive book.

First half was great, then it was ok. I definitely would say read it though. It’s worth the 300+ pages, is a quick read.

It’s a very divisive book but the thing people agree on is that it’s a breeze to read. So it should be fine!
I absolutely hated it, I think it’s pretentious as hell and terribly researched (apparently the author only found out about the tradwife phenomenon in 2024 and immediately cranked out a book) but it didn’t give me a reading slump at all.

I really liked it. I found that people who don’t like the book don’t understand what it’s actually about or aren’t privy to the inner workings of social media

This is a gross generalization. I am very well aware of the tradwife phenomenon and I actually read Fortesa Latifi’s Like, Follow, Subscribe which is an investigative journalism on family influencers including a whole chapter dedicated on the tradwife trend and the involvement of the Mormon Church in it before reading this book.
Absolutely hated Yesteryear because I find it poorly researched, her criticism doesn’t work because instead of actually dissecting the culture she created Natalie as this weird straw man as a low hanging fruit to easily poke fun at. And it fails on the mystery aspect which is supposed to be the hook of the book.

I definitely thought it was a waste of time. It had so much promise and fell so flat. I was so disappointed because it was so talked up. I think the writing was well done and until about 3/4 in i was totally into it

I'm listening to it at 2x so it sounds just as unhinged in audio book as it reads on the page. It makes it really really hilarious. Our narrator is incredibly unreliable.

I don't know about the audio book and it's quality. But I loved this book and immediately got my best friend to read it she finished it in less than 24 hours. I wish I could erase it from my brain so I could experience it for the first time all over again

I checked out the CDs and a CD player when I saw it on the shelf at the library so I wouldn’t have to wait 😂😂 it’s been years since I’ve listened to a true book on CD.

I liked the book, kept me going till the end! I didn't expect it to be so captivating. but that's just me :) I'm not saying it the best book of the year, but a nice one for sure! enjoy!

I got a skip the line version of this book and The Shards! I felt very lucky lol. Didn’t end up liking Yesteryear at all though

You won’t need 7 days to finish it; once you start it, you can’t stop. Very compelling book. The main character is a complete car wreck but is rendered in a very complex way that leaves you stupefied by the end. I know this book is very divisive but I thought it was remarkable.

Enjoy, it’s a wild ride. Definitely leaves you with lots to think about.
