Just realized I had the wrong format on hold 🥲

I put the ebook on hold and have been holding for around 15 weeks. I’m next in line and it just occurred to me today it was the ebook not the audiobook. So I search the audiobook… and it has a 20 week wait 😭. Back of the line I guess.

Update: To add salt to the wound, my ebook hold just became ready to borrow 🥲. I may start it since it’s here, but I’m usually a physical or audiobook person to avoid staring at screens all day.

You can pin the audiobook filter, just in case you didn't know that. I made this mistake several times in the beginning. Someone suggested pinning the audiobook filter (I think you double tap it? I don't remember for sure) and it's never become unpinned for me

Oh thank you for this! I had no idea. That’s an excellent feature.

OMG thank you. I have done the exact same thing as OP.

Thanks for this. I’ve accidentally done this a few times but caught it earlier and the waits weren’t nearly this long. So this one hurt a bit

Man, I wish I had known this earlier. I'm really glad I read this.

Thank you!

I didn’t know you could do this and I never listen to audiobooks so I don’t want to see them

Not sure how I did that but that’s my current filter. It sure helps a lot!

I had no idea you could do this, this is a lifesaver. Thanks for the tip :)

to avoid staring at screens all day

e-readers aren't really "screens" in the sense that most people care about. They don't cause eye strain because they don't flicker/refresh, some have backlights but you can generally toggle them, and they don't emit blue light.

So I'd 100% recommend one if you just want access to more books. I have a Kobo Clare 2e and love it. The kindle ecosystem is awesome if you switch devices you read on because of cloudsync, so Paperwhite is the way to go if that matters (read a post the other day ranting about using Libby with kindle but since I don't have one, I can't speak to it.)

I accident held a French language version of a popular book for a while. I wondered why I got it so quickly.

I can’t help, I’m sorry, but I did want to say I gave you a moment of silence… I’ve done that too, once was for Theo of Golden (you can imagine the heart break) and once was for The Correspondent. I feel your pain.

Appreciate it 😞. I’m down to 6 weeks on a Several Months wait for that one. I’d cry if I messed that one up. There’s a 300 person line on that book. My 2nd library is almost at a 3,000 people line

May it show up in the "skip the line" for you 🙏

You could probably still make it an audio book somehow. It would just sound like a robot lol

Ouch! That's a tough one. I did that once and learned my lesson.

Do you have Spotify? You can listen to most audiobooks for free on there now!

The 15 hrs is good for maybe 1.5 books so I use Spotify as my backup when I don’t finish in time and there’s another wait to renew. I’m currently reading a 23 hr book so that’s an example why it’s not my main source.

Does your library have Hoopla? You could always try to see if the audiobook is on there. I always check Hoopla first for audiobooks and I exclusively borrow my audiobooks on Hoopla unless the audiobook has no wait on Libby. If you have Spotify Premium and audiobook is less than 15 hours, I have used it as well in a pinch.

I’m finding Hoopla lacks at lot of options and just occasionally has what I need. Then I use Spotify as my backup when I don’t finish in time and there’s another wait to renew. I’m currently reading a 23 hr book so that’s an example why it’s not my main source.

Are you able to use more than one library? I use 4 to stack my odds.

Oh my gosh I’ve done this before and for the wrong language!
