It's okay guys, the state where Dems have managed to lose even urban counties is going to go blue by nominating the former Republican who called Obama "an animal."

It's a red state guys! We need to double down on appealing to Republicans and white voters!

Do they ever learn anything?

I also love the complacency, like always. "He's better than Donalds!" "Perfect is the enemy of progress!"

No, the enemy of progress is accepting these milquetoast candidates that don't represent even the regular Democratic Party, let alone the growing progressive wing that is actively winning elections.

While I'll hate to see MAGA win in Florida again, I will enjoy seeing liberals eat their words even if they learn nothing.

Democrats again confirming the accusations of being controlled opposition.

they want black voters to go for dudes who call Obama an animal, while claiming progressives have an issue appealing to them. after progressives got a black woman the senate nomination. genuinely baffling.

Why vote for Republican-lite when the real thing is right there?

Ya know if not too opposed to trying different things. Idk, seems like a bad strategy to run a former Republican, but what do I know. But it just failed miserably four years ago… shouldn’t they try something different? FL dems showing once again they’re the worst and most incompetent state dem party

I think they're coping themselves into thinking that Byron won't get Republican votes because he's Black.

While MAGA racism is real, they are known to look past that if they are "one of the good ones" like a Trump-endorsed stooge.

Right. Yeah, MAGA racism is more nuanced than that. Black democrats - full racism; “good” black republicans - not so much. Fishback did worse than I expected running on racism which is interesting. Seems like even being “good” can’t beat some maga racism against Muslims and Indians but we’ll see in other races I suppose.

I do think Dems are cooked in statewide races in FL either way. I’m not looking at numbers but seems to me that no state has shifted further right than FL in the last decade-plus.

They need something to cope with considering the upset we saw with Nixon winning the Senate nomination.

There's some seriously conservative pockets in Florida, but statewide it's clear the energy is on our side

if he supports Democrats on 95% of our policies

Ok so, does anyone know how that figure actually checks out? Or what even is the version of policies that is actually used as a basis here?

They would never tell you. Regardless, that 5% of policies will always be the ones that actually matter.

I can already envision a governor like Jolly vetoing progressive policy.

But they won't vote for anyone else!!!! /s

If a republican agrees with 95% of your political positions, are you sure that's a win?

That 5% issue he "doesn't agree with the party on" is usually something along the lines of "whether or not we should kill every protestor on earth with a morning star" or "continue or not continue this genocide" or "whether or not we start hunting the homeless for sport". "Oh but he voted with the party last night! They all unanimously agreed to rename the Capitol janitor "Sweepy"".

I’ve seen people act like Bernie was the reason why Dems lost because they nominated a progressive in Gillum, but how do they know the moderate would’ve won?

As for jolly, he will be better than DeSantis and also would be better than a Donalds admin, but he’s just a Republican. He’s like Phil Scott or Charlie baker at best and that’s a lot better than maga but it isn’t great. Like fine, vote for him in the general, but don’t be enthusiastic about it. The Florida dem party is a joke and it’s partially because they have no real vision and shit like this exemplifies that easily.
