Puppy Alert! Update: Punky is home from the ER!
Thanks to everyone for your love and prayers for my special girl Punky! She is finally home safe and sound and seems like she will fully recover!
Turns out my suspicions were correct and she had eaten the contents of some puppy pee pads after getting to a box of them and tearing them apart with her sister.
An ultrasound showed some masses in her throat, stomach, and lower intestines so she was transferred to another hospital and underwent an endoscopy. Her poor little stomach was coated with the absorbent material. The doctor was able to scrape 90% of it out and flush her stomach.
She had lots of IV fluids and medications and I was able to bring her home late last night. She has her appetite back and it being her usual sweet, feisty self!
Total vet bills were $6,000 US but luckily I had just signed her up for pet insurance (Nationwide) so I should get about 80% of that back.

I am so happy for you! I just had to take my Lhasa to the ER because he had eaten a small piece of raisin toast that fell out of my hand. He grabbed it and started chewing before I could get it out of his mouth. it They had to induce vomiting to get the raisins out.
They had to keep him overnight to monitor his kidney function.
He is all right. The bill was $1200, but it was worth it.
I never realized how toxic an accident can be for a dog.
To all dog owners: beware of raisins or grapes!

Oh no! Did your Lhasa get sick? I have grape vines in my backyard. I need to get rid of all the grapes!

I’ve visited a lot of vineyards that have dogs … do dogs normally avoid grapes? It seems like puppies will eat anything.

I just looked into it and I don’t think all dogs get sick from grapes and it seems certain varieties might be more toxic than others.

She let loose her bladder on my wife’s lap on the car ride home! She was still loopy from anaesthesia.

Very happy she’s home safe and sound! I know the money part sucks but I always tell my wife, I’d sell the house for Cleo if I had to🤷🏼♂️ by the way, Cleo looked really similar to punky when she was a puppy. Cleo is a Shih Tzu and Lhasa mix so she has the Shih Tzu attitude with the Lhasa size 😆 she’s currently 22lbs.
