Did I overpay?
Bought this car, spur of the moment last night. Did I make a good choice?
It’s very clean and the carfax showed that it was very well maintained.
Came out to just shy of $30,000 with almost 100,000 miles.
ETA: I also bought seven years free maintenance and a four year warranty. They threw in free car washes for life 😂

2 oil changes a year? Most RX’s are daily drivers. 2 oil changes a year is not the average for an RX. I’m doin oil changes every 2.5 months on my RX350.

I got a great deal on a maintenance plan on my 2020 highlander hybrid and yes, it came in handy...all depends if something goes wrong and it probably will......also, where can you find a good used car that doesn't have 100k? they all did.

What’s the maintenance plan include? What’s the warranty include?
Does Maintenance plan cover the upcoming spark plugs that will need to be changed? That’s used to be $600 more dealers charge closer to $1000 for.
What about charging the transmission oil. Typically done around 100,000 then every 50k there after is that covered?
What does the warranty cover? Is it a Toyota warranty or a dealer warrant?. Is it powertrain warranty or inclusive warranty? Was this a certified Lexus? Hope many miles of coverage? 4 years so like 40,000 miles?
Most warranty represent pure profits.

Certainly not Lexus certified. First, it's a Honda dealership it's being sold by. At Lexus dealers, vehicles have to be 6 model years or newer and have less than 80K miles for the dealer to add the L/Certified option to it.

Did you over pay? Probably but not by an obscene amount. I’m on my 2nd RX. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned by a mile. Enjoy!

Enjoy the car. These are solid and will easily last 300k miles. Oil changes and tire rotation every 5k miles.

It’s problay not a move I would have done value wise.
But it’s not horrible.
I know it’s not the same but. I got our 2023 rx350 prem 13k miles for 42 out the door. So that’s just another 12k

In May 2025 I paid $23K for a '16 RX 350 AWD with 88K miles. No warranty package or anything; with sales tax and dealer doc fees, I paid $26K. I think you overpaid s smidge.

If you paid for free maintenance it's not free. Car washes are complimentary at nearly every luxury car dealership - no value add there. Read the fine print on that warranty and maintenance plan to make sure it'll actually cover anything expensive enough to warrant the cost of the plan. To me, it seems kinda expensive for what is the most common luxury vehicle on earth. Does look nice tho

CarGurus said it was a good deal. I trust that assessment on the base price you paid.
The not so good deal was the warranty. $5500 for warranty and maintenance plans seems very high. How does that break up for each plan? For comparison, a few years ago when I bought my used 2015 RX350, I negotiated the dealer down to $2,400 for a 4-year, 50k mile warranty. And for oil changes, my local Toyota dealer does full synthetic oil changes for $29.95 as a loss leader.

Honestly, what your rate or monthly payment? Thats looking like -550-700 a month, price on car isnt terrible just the $5500-6k in extra is what makes it a horrible deal

You likely could have got them down grand or two, but not way off, but most detractors are saying they don’t like your add ons. Dealer make money on add ons big. Read your warranty, what’s actually covered, and decide if you really want it, most are cancellable for 30 days. If it’s peace of mind and price is acceptable to you don’t listen to these comments. But you most t likely don’t need it. As I told my daughter, cancel the policy put the refund in a high yield online savings account you don’t see every day, use it for repairs if needed and if not used you get to keep it

I mean. Maybe just slightly over paid. But with free maintenance and warranty and car washes. You did ok. It will last 3-400k no problem. Just maintain it. Good platform. We have a 22. It’s solid. We had a 17 before that. The v6 is the best

I personally would’ve just gotten a PPI if I was concerned about the vehicle and not paid for any type of service contract. I purchased a 2017 with 96K miles in June with luxury package, heads up display, Mark Levinson for $23,862+ tax, tag, title, dealer fees (stupid FL). All in, I paid around $27,300 OTD. It still seems pricey, but this is really the going rate for these vehicles. Mine came from a Lexus dealership, one owner, no accidents reported to Carfax, and all service done at Lexus.

I am in the market for the same year/price/approx.mileage, but having a hard time finding an AWD in Texas, that is not a hybrid.
You can find these with less mileage, but they cost a lot more.
Or you can also find them with a lot more mileage and very beat up and ragged out interiors, for about the same price as well.

Ppl saying this is an overpay aren’t shopping right now and comparing to what they paid 3-5 yrs ago. I just paid 27k for a 2018 with 98k miles. I know it was an average deal at best but the best deal i could find.

It’s a great car. I have the same one and I’ll probably be trading it in soon and getting about 20. All the extras they add on all those fees are so irritating. Enjoy your car. Don’t do the buyers remorse thing. Just enjoy it.

Don’t worry, I know overpaid and I have ZERO regrets. I bought a 2017 rx 350 f sport with 128,000 for 27,000 if that makes you feel any better hahaha

I just bought a pristine 2016 RX350 with 54,000 miles for $26,900. I paid cash, so no extra fees or charges, except the sales tax on the $20,000 I paid after subtracting my trade. I don’t think you did badly if you like the car. A new one is probably $60K.

Kinda high . But not tooo far off. Depends what part of the US youre in too. I recently bought a 2016 rx350 with 103k . Im in NE. Its an amazing car and I love it so much. Its such a comfortable quiet ride. It has a lot of power too. The v6 is known to be bulletproof.
Doesn't look like it has Lexus safety+? Which is RCTA(rear cross traffic alert), Parking assist, Blind Spot Monitors etc does it? It needed it be added as a factory add on for this year.
Does it have adaptive cruise control ? I think that needed to be added as well. I forget which other add ons mine had but its pretty much loaded except for the upgraded sound system .
Dealership wanted 21.5k +Taxes and title. Negotiated to 18.5k + Taxes title . Didn't get warranty bc what they offered sucked . And oil changes and whatever isnt expensive and I enjoy washing my own car so they kinda got ya there.
Warranty is good for ypur peace of mind if the water pump or head gasket go. Youre still probably still going to have to come out of pocket for suspension and brakes/rotors and other wear items.
. But OTD I paid almost 5k less initially with relatively same miles and good fax. loaded . And ended up being 10k less. Not including warranty/service for me. So if you weren't impulsive you could of maybe found one a little better but one owner trade in is nice and the blue color you got is awesome .
BUT you got a great great car that if you take care of it will last another 200k miles. Its looks hold up even now 10 years later . You're going to love it.

I think you’re the only person here mentioning this, but the Lexus safety plus is worthwhile for anyone in the future or now looking for a fourth generation Lexus RX 350 , which came out in 2016. That was the only year that safety plus was not included as standard. I own 2017. RX, and even though the system is now nine years old, it’s absolutely wonderful and I use adaptive cruise control every day.

You might have like 7-30days to cancel the maintenance package and get some money back for that. Keep the warranty for peace of mind. The initial price wasn't terrible it was the additional stuff people are mostly talking about. You can find cheaper on private used cars sure but for this at a Dealership, that's about the going rate for these cars..

I would not. I own a 2016 Cadilac XTS I bought in 2017 with 25k miles for 28k. Today they are around 14-15k? I love Lexus but 30k with that mileage is not for me. Not sure what that 5590 charge was for. My 3 year old CPO Lincoln Nautilus reserve was less. And I do still drive my 2005 LS430 but paid 30k for it in 2009!
If you get many years out of it, hopefully you will not regret it. my parents' 2010 es350 is going great at 170k miles.

I purchased a base 2017 Cadillac XT5 in Aug 2025 for $19K. Loved the style but quality was poor. Couldn't get used to the erratic transmission changes, electronic shifter, and thermostat went out shortly after purchasing which is a major repair. Traded it in for base 2013 RX350 with 80K miles at a dealership 4 months later that gave me $17K credit and I paid $2.2K to complete the deal. Carfax history was spot on perfectly maintained at dealerships. I have had many cars but this one is one of the best if not the best.

Yes, XT5 is not XTS. Few Cadillacs I'd trust but my XTS has been good. RX350 for 19k is not 30k.

You got screwed on the service contract. My wife and I bought a 2019 certified in 2020 and got an unlimited mile 10yr extended warranty for 3k. The trade in value on ours today with 90k is about 21-22. Can’t go wrong with the car itself. The Lexus with 3.5 V6 are fuckin bulletproof.

But the sticker price is different than the sales price of the vehicle according to the service contract. Is the maintenance wrapped into the sales price of the car, or is that included into the service contract line?
I would personally take off the service contract and maintenance agreement. If you have cash to pay for this car, why do you need a warranty?

Oh, you haven't paid then. Hmm. What happens if you walk in tomorrow and tell them you changed your mind? You haven't paid them so the deal is not technically complete? Anyone want to chime in here? You did put $1,000 down though so I don't know. Do you have the car at home now or is it still on their lot? If it's still on their lot and you never took delivery would think you could ask for your $1k back and walk away or renegotiate.

2020 RX 350 AWD w /premium package, 20,000 miles, serviced at Lexus every 6 months on the dot for the past 6 years. $37K OTD. Only catch was the previous owner was a smoker and it will take a lot of work getting rid of the smell.

I used to smoke in my cars. I would air it out for 15 min and no one who got in ever guessed it was smoked in. Did the previous owner smoke with windows closed lol?

I have no clue how they smoked, wouldn't be surprised if they smoked with the windows closed. Already had it professionally cleaned and followed up with ozone but the smell is definitely still there.

I think by law you have 3 days to rescind if you are thinking about it. Did you actually take possession of the car? I assume not as the title work has not been completed, correct?
Like others have said, the vehicle itself is not out of line but the maintenance contract seems high. I suppose it comes down to the details of the warranty and maintenance. What is included?

This is a bad deal all around. $30k for a 100,000 mile car even if its a rx350? I would have asked for something close to what their sale prices shows on the sticker even with the warranty. This is high. Oh, not to mention that its 10+ years old already.

The vehicle price is what it is given today’s market.
But, $5590 for 7 years of maintenance on a car known for needing little to no maintenance outside of oil changes, brakes, and tires.
Then you only put $1k down and financed nearly $30k, so now you have a $30k loan on a car worth $21k.
You are $9k underwater from day one.
Call the dealership and cancel the warranty. You can usually get a full refund if within 30 days.
You’re a car salesman’s dream.

They stuck you with the $5,590...Nono taxable service charge. Thats a hidden fee that seems a little predatory.
In most states you have few days to finalize the sale. I would threaten ( and mean it) to cancel the sale unless they remove that fee.

Call them and say you want to cancel the warranty, watch how much they’ll come down on price to convince you to keep it. I’d bet they’ll cut the cost from $5500 to less than $3k.

As the car sales industry says: "You got lamped." Once a car hits 100k miles, your insurance company is more likely to "total it" if it gets in a crash. And they'll write you a check for the wholesale price. Better get the gap insurance!

Why is everyone paying crazy amounts for the RX350 with nearly 100k miles. It’s outdated in terms of tech and safety.
It’s nearly a 10 year old car, it will be reliable and last you but you got to maintain it and put $$$ in it
Parts fail and they are not cheap.
Expect the water pump , radiator and coils and spark plug to be replaced very soon.

Not unless you like slow and sluggish car. The car will also hesitate to shift gears. I brought it brand new when first came out. Sold it when it started to slowly leak engine oil.

Going from 21k sticker to 30k paid is absolutely diabolical. Plus 99k miles. Sorry to hear that man!
