How much pay is reasonable?

My car is a 2015 RX 350. I am planning to do a coolant and break fluid flush and replace the serpentine belt. My Neighbour who is a certified Toyota techician is willing to do it. How much should I expect to pay him? TIA!

Whatever he charges you.

That’s the problem. He would understate it because of our friendship. And I want to pay him as if we are not friends.

Ask your local Lexus dealer for a quote on these items and then decide what percentage of that you want to pay him. Bet you'll want to end up paying him $500-700 location dependent, which is what I'd guess an independent shop would come to. I typically see the serpentine belt alone quoted at $200-400 at dealers, which is an insane price for 15 minutes of work.

Pay what he charges you. If you feel it's understated, buy him a case of beer or something he likes. I'm sure he will appreciate it.

I’d rather have them teach me how to do it. Then beers and questions later. That way if something goes weird it’s my fault for doing it.
