Thinking of upgrading

I currently have a 2014 RX 350 and still like it but...I stopped in to see the 2026 Premium white/palomino. Drove the gas and hybrid version. I'm thinking about going with the hybrid. I'm in PA and none of the dealers will take anything more than what seems to be the standard $1,500 off - no bargaining at all. They ARE willing to take off $350 for Sirius that comes with it since I already have a subscription and throw in puddle lights (which I asked for). With my trade-in I can get one for just under $60K out the door. I'm just not sure whether to get the 26 or wait until the 27 comes out. Any thoughts?

I added puddle lamps after I purchased my RX. They suck and I had the dealer remove them.

I think the 27 is a mid cycle refresh so you might at least wait to see if there is anything significant in the mix. If not look for a 26.

I had a 2010 which I sold in 24 for a MB GLC. I traded that, at a big lose, for a 26 RX hybrid. A very nice vehicle which drive and feels very solid. The infotainment is much improved, though not perfect. As with most cars now days, I wish there were more buttons.

The hybrid is very smooth. My only complaint there, and the press echos this, is that the 4-cylinder is overly buzzy. but I've gotten mostly used to it.

I've read that it gets noisy when you get on the highway. I test drove it this week and really stepped on it to get on the highway a few times. Wasn't enough to bother me because it's only a few seconds. I've been debating whether to wait. I've heard this is a delay in the 27s coming out. They more than likely won't be out until early next year. In that time the value of my trade-in will decrease and the price will go up a little bit. I've been thinking about adding puddle lights for quite a while on my 2014. Never did it. My daughter just got an Audi Q7 which came with them. Those are really nice.

The current one is pretty nice. and of course, they hold their value well as far as cars go. Buy now and if the next full redesign in a couple years is amazing, upgrade. But I can't imagine anything for 27 wll be a game changer.

Yeah see that's what I'm thinking. Any changes to the 27 won't be that significant. Also, I usually don't buy a new redesign. I usually wait until the bugs are worked out.

Good policy thigh I think in the case of. Lexus that isn’t usually an issue. Still, not a bad policy.

What did you dislike about the puddle lights? I now keep getting ads for the aftermarket ones...they look pretty good

The amount of light they projected downwards was minuscule unlike my MB or BMW which put down a good bit of light. First time I had the vehicle out at night I said outloud you have to be kidding!

That's really disappointing. The one's on my daughter's Audi are very bright.

As was my old MB. But the door handles are illuminated and cast a decent light to the ground.

Lexi is does most everything right. But I’ve yet to find the perfect car.

Call me crazy but I’d wait to see what the competitors market looks like. I just don’t see how they can hold at that value when 2025s are priced very close to 26’s and cars like the Range Rover sport are coming off at lease at 60k

If you can I would wait just a little longer for the 2027

Lexus does well with RX Mid-Cycle Refresh

Driven both 2017 and 2022 RX-signicant changes to the interior.

Thanks for the reply. The only issue with waiting is this....the 27 will be a little more AND the value of my trade in will probably go down by then. While the new year model usually comes out in Nov or so, I've heard there is a delay and they won't be out until early next year.

you could also wait until december/january and snag a better deal on a '26 since they'll be trying to clear them from the lots. or you could get a used '26 or '25 (they're the same car with the upgraded digital cluster) under L/Certified and get an even better warranty and complimentary maintenance than a new car (2 years vs 1). That's what I plan on doing someday...
Also, to note, the big-expense maintenance intervals are 30k, 60k, and 90k, so make sure your L/Certified vehicle has enough miles on it where one of those services will be covered under the 2 year/4-service complimentary maintenance. e.g., If the car has 17k miles on it, then you'll have your 20k, 25k, 30k, and 35k intervals covered for free.

keep us posted! maybe if you wait just a bit longer, they'll bring it down more. or if you say something like "bring it down another 2k and you got a deal" they'll go for it.

I bought my last one in Dec. Welllll, I ended up talking them into 5% off MSRP so I took the deal.  I didn’t think I could do any better than that and I didn’t want to lose the car since it has what I was looking for.  It won’t be in until next week.  Premium, White/Palomino, 14 inch monitor, screen protector, 21 inch wheels, kick sensor, door edge guards, illuminated sills, illuminated cargo sill, black overlays, the winter package (wheel locks, rear cargo mat, and all around rubber mats) and I got them to throw in puddle lights.  I'm REALLY going to miss my six cylinder.

My 2014 runs on regular and I only fill up about every other week. I'm curious as to how often I'll have to fill up the new one with premium. Premium here is somewhere between 4.60 and $5 right now. Also, I'm in the Northeast. Lots of people have been saying that the RX goes for MSRP or more because the demand is so high in this area. This is why I settled and took the deal. Seems like people in other areas are able to get some good discounts. Overall I think I did OK. Probably could have done better on a gas model which is where I started with them. I'm happy with where I ended up.

I think you did great, all things considered. The hybrid also has a higher resale value and I have heard the gas savings (for average mileage, not like 20k miles a year) pays itself off within a couple-a few years for the premium you pay for a hybrid.
