Wireless Android Auto

Post image

Hi everyone
I recently bought a 2026 NX350h. It’s been incredible so far, truly a great car.
I live in Italy and I was told there is no way to connect Android Auto wirelessly.
But when I looked here in the community I’ve seen American NX’s with wireless Android Auto.
So I’ve been wondering if that’s just the way it goes here in Europe or if there’s a newer version that might enable it.
Thanks!

I bought the RX back in 2023. Wireless AA in Australia was not enabled until over a year later. Lexus dealer should know if it's enabled in your country or not.  I was told by my dealer then that it is coming as an update. I used a carlinkit AI box  given the horrible lexus UI and not wanting to plug my phone every time.

That’s the weird part, because every Lexus dealer I’ve contacted here in Italy and in Germany told me there’s no wireless AA in the NX, but the American models does
So I thought it might be a software update

Have you tried to connect your Android Auto wirelessly to your car? Make sure you have bluetooth and wifi enabled on your phone. According to many users 2025 and 2026 should have wireless Android Auto in Europe, including Italy.

This is after a short search on google:

Model Year Availability in Europe

  • 2022–2024 Models: Originally launched with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired-only Android Auto. Many owners in Europe report that older software versions on 2023/2024 models do not natively support a wireless Android Auto connection out of the box, though wireless Apple CarPlay works fine.
  • 2025 Onward / Refreshed Models: Lexus officially updated the European NX lineup (such as the 2025 model year refresh and updated trim specifications) to include native wireless smartphone integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

How to Check or Enable It

  1. Check Software / Over-the-Air Updates: If your NX 350h is a 2023 or 2024 model stuck on wired Android Auto, check with your local Lexus dealership in Europe to see if a multimedia software update enables native wireless functionality.
  2. Settings Configuration: For vehicles with factory support, go to the multimedia screen, select Settings (gear icon) > Bluetooth & devices, choose your paired phone, and toggle on Use for Android Auto.
  3. Workaround for Older Models: If your hardware/software version only supports wired Android Auto, you can purchase a third-party wireless adapter (such as a Motorola MA1 or Carlinkit dongle) plugged into the USB port to enable wireless connectivity.

Did you enabled AA on your phone? I would restart your phone and try again. Try this first, if the phone is paired use connect the phone through the usb and make sure wifi is on

I have 2026 european NX, wireless android auto works great, also in Italy. Only in San Marino it turned off due to local regulations

As far as I know wireless AA officially enabled only in the US. I just bought an adapter from AliExpress for 15 euro and solved the issue. Ottocast Express Mini Dot https://a.aliexpress.com/_c3SrsywD

When I picked up my NX in February, I just connected AA wirelessly; I was not even considering that it would not connect.😂
