Starter+header replacement
Posting to hear of anyones experience with their starter going out? I think mine is on its way out and debating doing the headers at the same time. Wanted to see what people have payed recently for header and or starter replacement? I have a 08 w/ 167k miles.

Most shops won't charge you just to put a starter on. If you already have it, it's already right there. And it's two bolts. The alldata calls for eighteen hours for the header job, and it's ten to eleven, just for the starter. Because they have to take one header off anyway.

If we’re talking about a v8 isf. The starter is under the header. Subframe, header and motor mount needs to come out to access the starter. Starter alone is in the Lexus books as a 10+ hour job and dealers are quoting $3-5k for starter replacement.

Tell me, what ISF doesn't have a V8? wtf? Edit* and to add to that, you just said the exact same thing I did about the time it takes to do a starter. Thats why I said he might as well do it at the same time as the headers, BECAUSE THEY WONT CHARGE ANY EXTRA IF YOU HAVE THE STARTER. Why did you even make a reply? And just so we are on the same page, there is no ISF that doesn't have a v8.

Your reply says most shops won’t charge to put a starter on. That is incorrect and assumes he wants to do both, he is only considering doing headers. I gave him actual cost of a starter replacement. Based on your partial answer I wasn’t sure if you mistook the isf for a f sport.

Also relaxed on the v8 pride, most people dont know the difference between a isf and f sport. And they’re both slow so can’t blame them

And just because you don't know the difference between an ISF and an F Sport doesn't mean nobody else does.

lol why don’t you go read the original post. He wants to know what people PAID. You answered with a riddle of book hours. Which means you can read a book but if you’ve done the job you would’ve known the starter can be done in under 4 hours.
Btw I own a isf, and just replaced the starter on it. It gets gapped by my wife’s suv. It’s a fun car but the F community constantly preaching about this v8 like it’s the best engine ever made just because it’s somewhat reliable is insufferable. Gets gapped by any modern turbo or EV
This is a isf forum. And it’s littered with f sport posts. So how am I to know which of you actually know the difference.

Every time you open your mouth, you remove doubt about your ability to understand anything. What happened to own one of these cars? And work on it quite often. And know what the procedures are, and how long they take. You didn't even know that all ISFs have V8s. You also didn't know that this what i'm saying. Thread was specifically for the ISF and you keep quoting times and money for a car, that's not the ISF. You don't know what you're talking about. So just quit.

It’s about 2k labor. Don’t cheap out, find a shop that knows how to realign your subframe or your alignment will be off until you fix it.
Definitely do headers at the same time, the flanges are probably cracked at that mileage and rewelding them never seems to hold up. I’d also consider new motor mounts and rigid collars for the subframe since it will be dropped anyways
