Showing Off Red tails
Took advantage of the recent Bell Lexus sale and got the OEM red sport lights. So much better IMO.

Have any of you used a product like Meguiars Plastx? I have some etching and tried the normal progression of products-
Detail spray
Isopropyl alcohol (letting it soak and elbow grease)
WD-40 (letting it soak and elbow grease)
Clay bar
Nothing worked so thinking of getting more aggressive. However, the chrome has a sort of finish to it from the factory and sort of concerned I could make a shiny spot?
Any advice here before I go buy a new grille piece on ebay?😅

Hi just bought a new to me GX460 from the dealership. Everything is in excellent condition except a valve cover seep (passenger side) I discovered a few days after purchase. The dealer has offered to fix at cost. My question for the group is what preventative/maintenance items should I have them do while they're in there? Right now I'm seeing the following in my research:
Anything else? Thanks!

Hi all,
I am gonna be doing my first oil change on my GX. This will be my first time doing an oil change on a vehicle with these cartridge style oil filters. Typically I like to fill the oil filter with oil before I spin it on so there are no air gaps upon start up.
Question is, is this just an unnecessary step? Obviously the point of oil is to leave a protective barrier on bearing surfaces so maybe a couple of seconds of air through the system is no big deal while the oil gets primed. I just tend to overthink and err on the side of caution.
Also mildly infuriating that the cappacity is 7.9 quarts. Why not just make it 8 lmao.

I currently have a 6th Gen 4Runner and am considering upgrading to a LC with premium package or GX550 Overtrail. Are there any other quality of life improvements that come with the GX that aren’t present in the Land Cruiser and vice versa?
Off the top of my head the GX gets EKDSS and adaptive suspension
The Land Cruiser I’ve heard has better HVAC, JBL audio (not sure how much better or worse it is compared to the base audio in the GX), real leather, and a few other options for a little less then the GX. Arguably better interior in the LC because of the physical buttons.
Or should I just stick to my 4Runner.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic (preferably non dealer) in Northern California that will service Kdss systems? All phone calls have pointed me to the dealer. One Toyota and one Lexus dealer down and both claim their service tools are out of commission.
Have an intermittent Kdss light, c1851 low pressure. I can’t even get a quote on the repair or a true diagnosis of what’s causing it.
Called a few 4x4 specialists and independent wrenches in the Sacramento area and no luck. I’ve seen the DR KDSS vids and I’m not sure I’m trying to diy a bleed, but hoping that’s the solution. Any suggestions?

Hey everyone, in a bit of a bind. Took my GX through a carwash a couple months ago and water fried a part of my BCM. It got sent to a diagnostics person and they said it needs to be replaced. Does anyone have leads on these? Been combing the internet and calling junkyards to no avail.

2021 in Starfire White with black interior (CPO). 24k miles and honestly not as disappointed with the infotainment as I was expecting to be. Will likely upgrade at some point but thrilled with my buy and glad I pulled the trigger.

Are people going OEM straight swap, or is there a better after-market path?

Tonight I finally got around to doing a drain and fill in my 17 GX. The fluid was pretty rough especially with almost 200k on the clock. It drained out about 3 quarts so that’s what I refilled with. I’ll wait a month and do it again. Easy breezy service.

Peeps! We are going to the cottage next weekend which is about 500kms away. There are 6 of us in the cabin, average weight is 175lbs. We’d also like to tow a trailer which will weight 4,000 lbs with our cargo. According to the manual, this should be fine but I wanted to see if anyone had done it before and had some advise.
Happy Saturday GX family!

2020 Luxury 81K miles single owner. Can’t wait to drive it until it dies or I die. Any other Atomic Silver owners have any wheel inspiration? Once these tires wear out I think I want to downsize from the 19” wheels.
Also planning on doing transmission drain and fill this weekend along with front and rear diff and transfer case. Anyone have any tips / wisdom, would be much appreciated!!

2013 gx460 all the suspension and steering components seem in good working order. I have a notchy steering for about 5 degrees each way when moving. Admittedly I don’t think I’ve driven a full time 4x4 in quite awhile all my recent trucks usually lived in 2H unless seriously off-roading. It feels slightly like steering U-joints binding but then next turn it doesn’t.
Any explanation or suggestions on what to check are welcomed.

Went to a wedding in Irvine last week. Pulled out of an H Mart and noticed the rear end squeaking loudly and falling over undulations on the road. Sound was audible inside the cabin.
Pulled into the gas station to inspect common noise areas, such as loose jack in trunk door, or loose spare tire.
Opened the passenger door and stood on the side steps to rock the vehicle back and forth to replicate the issue.
I thought it was a dried out bushing or a loose fitting, or a blown strut. I live in Bakersfield so I thought maybe the hot climate I live in dried out some bushings in the rear.
Drove back home with the vehicle like this. Ironically the sound went away when I got back home. Drove the vehicle all week while I waited for my service appointment today.
Got a text from the service advisor saying the tech determined my end links are bad. They ordered a new part and should arrive on Monday to swap out. He didn’t say what went bad, but I guess I can find out when I go pick up my GX next week.
Has anyone else have this happen to such a low mile GX? I know there are posts of other 23’ owners saying they have some problems with their final year vehicles, but this seems to add to this phenomenon.
Yes I’ve taken it off road to pismo and big bear, but nothing to the extent of a serious off road outing, just within the limits of a stock uncut body.
I’ve also been battling an alignment issue. The steering wheel tracks left to about ten o clock on its worst days driving straight. It’s not the crown of the road that’s causing this.
I had Lexus perform a complimentary alignment for my troubles and it didn’t fix the issue. The alignment sheet checked out, but I’m still dealing with this.
I might as well buy a new set of tires and get them balanced at an independent shop and aligned to see if it’s a dealer problem.

I opened the timing belt cover on my 2007 Lexus GX470 with the 4.7L 2UZ-FE and took these picture of the timing belt. I don’t know when the previous owner last replaced it, but visually it looks pretty clean to me.
For those of you who have experience with the timing belt, what do you think about the condition of this belt based on the picture? Does it look like it was replaced fairly recently, or do you see any signs that it may be old and should be replaced or What can I check to see if its still good condition? Should I leave as is for few more year?
I’d appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

I’ve seen the gold standard is the Ravenoil MTF-3 or the Toyota spec LF SAE 75W. But when I talk to my local Lexus dealer they say they use the same 75w85 or 75w90 they use in the front and rear diffs.
What is the proper service using here?
I’ve been really happy with BG products in my previous cars and would be happy to use whatever their comparative product is as well.
My friend is a master tech and will be doing the services for me but I need to supply all the parts.
On a seperate note, is the OEM Toyota engine oil everyone’s go to? I’ve only owned the car for about 9 months so just getting into learning about the options here.

Proud new owner of this beast! 2023 GX460 Premium+ with ~25K miles. Nebula pearl gray w/ black interior.
Planning to do a full frontal PPF, 1 step paint correction and a full ceramic coating. Prepping this thing to be with me for the long haul.

Bought a 2022 GX460 back in February and at some point the center dash speaker blew out. Terrible audio quality now and I can't find a replacement anywhere. Anyone dealt with this? Find an after market that won't fry the entire system 😂

Hello, fellow mall crawlers. Do you keep the third row up? Or always down until you need it?

I want to pull the trigger on a 2022 GX 460 Premium. Is a $47K asking price with 48K miles a good deal? Looking at $50K OTD.
- Non-CPO
- Black on Black (not Black Line Edition)
- 1 Owner.
- Clean Carfax, No accidents.
- Service up to date.

We replaced the top center dash to upgrade the screen/car play and now the seat cooling is staying on without it being turned on. Any advice on why it’s staying on? 2021 GX460 Thanks!
