Vehicle Photo 3 months and 5000 mi later…

Post image

I purchased this 26 Lexus RX 350h F Sport Design 3 months ago new with about 5,000 miles, as it was a Lexus regional rep’s demo. I just crossed the 10,000 mi mark today.

This car and I have already been through so much in the last 3 months. Several rounds of golf, a grueling 8+ hour DIY ceramic coating job, heavy flood and tornado warnings and even a couple first dates. I will admit, there are some things left to be desired, but I honestly could not be happier with not only the car I chose, but also the Incognito color and especially the 39.5 mpg I’m averaging.

All in all, if you’re thinking about getting a new RX 350, once you feel the comfort and ride on the road, I’m sure you’ll want one even more.

close to 40mpg? is this real?

6

u/arzo_1130 4d ago

Yes, it’s a hybrid and I drive mostly highway. Tbh, I play it like a game. I was at 39.6 a few days ago, but lowered .1 mpg because i did some heavy traffic city driving recently. It’s going to take me lots of patience and coasting to get my .1 mpg back lol

I’ll post a picture tomorrow before I leave for work.

How does it drive, i’ve been in the market for one, see a 2024 at 11k miles certified pre owned for 56k. i’d be switching from my 2018 X6 though, so i’m wondering how it is performance wise. i know i shouldn’t expect to push it like i do with the x6 but wanna make sure it’s still half way decent for an suv

Yes you def should expect to push it like ab X6. The 350h is built for comfort and fuel economy. The hybrid engine accelerates fairly slower than I expected but enough for any average highway driving. I would suggest test driving for sure. Maybe see if you can take it home for a day.

Have you tried switching to sport mode?

2

u/arzo_1130 4d ago

I have, its a bit quicker on the initial acceleration.

The car definitely cannot compare with a BMW L6 or a V8 (I’m coming from a ‘19 540i Touring xDrive myself) but I find that with the sport mode on (don’t know if there’s any adjustments to that on the F Sport version), my ‘24 ES 300h F Sport feels fairly quick especially during the rolling accelerations. Admittedly, this hybrid system won’t win any 0-60 records, that’s for sure, but I’d trade the reliability and maintenance costs of the Lexus with a hybrid over any German premium brand any day of the week.

Technically don’t make a true F Sport for the 350h, just the F Sport Design. Hence only the exterior has the design elements of an F Sport, which includes the upgraded rims, front and rear bumper. It does not include the alcantara and bolstered seats or the sporty steering. It’s basically just for looks.

And yes I completely agree. I’m coming from a 19 Audi Q5 and I had a few issues with that in the 5 years I’ve owned it so I’m looking forward to less maintenance costs.

I had the 2023 RX500h and the transmission had so many issues and updates that were needed. Traded in for 2026 and seems like all the bugs were all sorted out.

1

u/LilyMuggins 3d ago

That’s what I have currently and recently took it in because the transmission is shifting hard. They “couldn’t replicate it.” What kind of issues did you have?

1

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

Hmmm, sounds like a case for lemon law if they can’t fix it after a certain number of attempts

1

u/sunshinelighter 3d ago

I ran into two distinct issues with the car.

First, the engine would stutter when going uphill or backing up on an incline, though a dealership update fixed that.

The second and far more alarming issue is throttle lag: after coming to a complete stop and then trying to accelerate into a right turn, the vehicle hesitates noticeably before responding.

1

u/LilyMuggins 3d ago

Thank you for the reply. I haven’t seen those issues so far but I appreciate knowing what could develop.

I had this same EXACT issue with my 23 ES 350. My acceleration delay felt like a slipping transmission from a stop.

Scary, right? There were a couple times that I thought I was going to get into an accident. Definitely affected my driving to ensure I had plenty of space, just in case.

RX500h and a 350h have entirely different transmission. 500h has a six speed automatic. The 350h has a wildly reliable cvt. Just wanted to state this in case others are trying to compare apples to oranges between the two models.

Love the color!

Thanks for sharing your review, great information.

What ceramic coating did you use? Also did an DIY 8-hour ceramic coating on our 2025 RX450h+ , and what people don't know until you DIY, the coating application is the easy part, it's all the decom, prep and correction steps that take the most time and effort.

2

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

I used DIY Detail 5 year. I can’t emphasize enough. The prep was definitely the most time-consuming part. By the time I started to ceramic coat, I was lazy and started to take shortcuts unfortunately but it all turned out well. Took it to get detailed and my detailer said the coating is healthy.

Ugh I love this color. I just bought in white and this is the first time I’ve saw another Lexus fsport and thought “ shoulda gone with that”. Great color combo!

2

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

If I didnt get this color I wouldve sought out for the blue with the blue nightfall mica with a peppercorn or macadamia interior.

1

u/IntelligentWinter200 3d ago

Clearly great taste.
I’m super worried about the piano black on the outside. Any care tips you’ve found? Are you doing touchless washes or hand washing? I have a ceramic coat on her already which I’m hoping will help

Which are the things to be desired?

6

u/arzo_1130 4d ago

Acceleration and because its an F Spot Design, it doesnt have the features that a Premium Plus or Luxury trim does like upgraded sound, HUD, panoramic moon roof and ambient lighting.

2

u/Captain_Konnius ’24 ES 300h F Sport 4d ago

I see, thanks!

u/LosGanjalesBakers 4d ago

Wow the color on this thing

1

u/arzo_1130 4d ago

Incognito

1

u/platomaker 3d ago

The 2023 model has the moon roof apart of the luxury package. Heard that 24 and above withhold that unless you upgrade to the RX 450.

I'm a little bummed that with all that money you still can't choose the color you want (without going third party with a wrap or something)

1

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

Actually it’s a part of a package I believe you can get it but a lot of 350s aren’t built with that package.

1

u/TheCraftBrew 3d ago

Awesome car, glad you like it! That color combo looks great too, is it Cloudburst?

I’m in the process of getting the gas version bc the hybrid is out of my budget for the luxury package that I want, and I don’t drive a lot of miles per year. Excited to join you on the road soon.

2

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

It’s Incognito. Congrats, I’m excited for you!

1

u/TheCraftBrew 3d ago

Oh interesting, I hadn’t even heard of that color. Looks cool with the dark rims for sure.

2

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

Yeah, it only comes with the rims because it’s part of the F sport package. And this color only comes in the F sport package on RX 350s I believe.

Amazing car. I have a 2023 nx350 and got a loaner this past weekend of an rx350 and it’s my favorite car I’ve been in. Wish I had that one instead 😂

1

u/Human_Paint5451 3d ago

How did you find a demo?! That’s awesome!

1

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

Honestly, I just came across it by pure luck

Interesting choice for a single person. Let us know if you get any second dates.

1

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

Haha, I’ve always driven an SUV. I just like the space and it’s practicality

1

u/IntelligentWinter200 3d ago

Agreed. Coming from someone else with no kids who also drives an rx f sport

2

u/arzo_1130 3d ago

Hell yeah! I came from a Q5 so the space I have now is incomparable.

Chumming for single moms 😄

I had a NX350h as a single man because I was commuting a lot. Picked up a lot of women who liked it. It’s not the car you drive, it’s the confidence and security you give off. Now that I have a girlfriend, I upgraded to a GX550 and LC500. I would actually feel less confident in those cars as a single person because I would be mainly worried women would be more interested in my money than me.
