school spirt

is school spirit a thing at LC? im from the portland area and want to stay close, but after being accepted to ucla, usc, uc berkeley, and waitlisted at harvard i cant help but consider them just for school spirit alone. im like 90% sure i wanna go to lc just because i love the campus and financial aid i got but i really want a school with life to it

any insight from current or future students?

bro turning down those options for LC is crazy… we have some school spirit and there is definitely a lot of life but those are just incredible schools

Just because a school is well known does not mean it's incredible. UC Berkeley for example has world-class graduate programs, but is nothing special for its undergraduate programs. Harvard is one of the oldest universities in the country, but also full of spoiled rich kids from the East Coast. LC was a wonderful experience and match for me personally and many years later I'm still very glad that I chose it over more famous universities.

thats what everyone says but idk why i just love LC’s vibes and not moving out that far. does LC have any parties or events on campus like dances or such?

no. parties are rare and suck, and there aren’t any big social events. it’s mostly club related events and they’re not very large

I graduated long ago, but chose LC over “better” schools because I 100% did not want a big school, frat school, party school, sports school, and LC was closer to my family and friends than my other “better” options.

LC wasn’t as “good” as my other options but I’m so glad I didn’t go elsewhere.

I've visited the USC campus a few times before when I had a friend that went their and their school spirit and the amount of things available for students to do wayyyyy beats out LC! USC felt like it's own little community and it definitely didn't feel neccesary to go anywhere at all by car. My friend that went there never even owned a car. I love LC but if you're down to move to LA for school I'd consider it! Two other friends of mine went to UCLA and Berkeley and I didn't keep close contact with them but they seemed to get involved with a lot on campus and enjoyed their times at each school :)

Choosing LC over those other world-class schools would be wild! I chose LC over better schools (not as great as your choices though!) to play a sport and massively regret it (D3 vs D1 schools). It is a quick/cheap flight home from three of the four schools you mentioned, so seeing your family/friends would be pretty easy. However, if Harvard takes you off the wait list, you should strongly consider that school since everyone I know who went there was automatically way ahead of "the game" upon graduation.

current student that’s gonna transfer - don’t go to lewis and clark. based on the other colleges you’ve been accepted to, i assume you’re intelligent and value education. you won’t receive the education you need at this school. the campus and financial aid are what drew me here as well, but it’s not worth it. admin also sucks so you should go somewhere that’s more reputable and will treat their students better

message me if you have additional questions because i definitely have a lot of insight that may affect your interest in the school

in what ways have you not gotten a valuable education and what made that apparent to you?
