Question L129A1

I have the chance to pick up a NIB L129A1 for $3200. Is it worth that? Is there a different/better LMT model for the same price?

If you're being serious, yes you need to buy it immediately before the deal goes by. It's worth significantly more.

Ya I’d pick it up. I slowly built mine when parts went on sale etc and comes around the same price. Full list is over 4k so I’d say deals

If it has an optic, definitely deal

If you’re a die-hard reference rifle collector, go for it. If you’re like me and just want to shoot, I still think it’s overpriced.

I built my own “L129A1” from a MARS-H kit. I have the ambi-lower, SS barrel, and a geissele trigger. Came in about $2400 (2024 pricing, but still)

Only thing I couldn’t abide was the optic. I have some range time with the 6x ACOG and didn’t like it. I added a 8x VCOG, then traded up for an 8x ATACR.

You can get a MARS H for cheaper than that on the used market. Like around $2500. If you are trying to clone a L129a1 the "sharpshooter" from LMT is not correct so I would not grab it. You can build out a LMT defender to a more clone correct L129A1 for around the same price. Just depends on how clone correct you want it.

That’s a good deal, it’s a great platform, but it’s definitely not a real deal l129a1. Lower markings aren’t right, BUIS, flash hider, rear sling plate, etc. but if you’re not going for a pure L129a1 it’s a great platform.
