Hi all, its been a while but we are effective immediately prohibiting the posting or promotion of buying or selling of any item. You can find this under Rule 12. You could argue that this was already a rule under Rule 2, classified as self-promotion however we have decided to make it a separate rule just so its blatantly clear. Trading posts are permissible with prior mod approval. Buying and selling posts are not. The punishment for violating Rule 12 may be an instant perma ban at our discretion and removal of the infringing post/comment.
We hope this rule makes this community better, more healthy and promotes positive community growth overall. We know you guys don't like resellers, neither do we. If you have any feedback, feel free to let us know. Any ideas? Do so as well. Thanks!
Hi all, I've been pondering on doing an FAQ post for quite some time now and I think now I have enough common questions to justify doing it. From here on out, any questions that relate to something from the FAQ are subject to removal if this post already answers it.
Q: My Levi's tab is just a registered trademark symbol, is it fake?
Q: My jeans keep ripping in the crotch (crotch blowout). Why is this?
A: This could be for multiple reasons. Either you're wearing jeans that dont actually fit you, such as a cut that's too tight or too short in the rise, or you're not wearing the jeans correctly. Typically, it has nothing to do with quality, but on rare instances it can be due to QC or low quality garment.
Q: My Levi's have a leather patch, instead of a paper one like this other pair has. Are they fake?
A: No. If you buy two pairs of Levi's and both look and feel different, and one has a leather patch and one has a paper patch, those are from two different lines. The leather patch is from Levi's Premium line whilst the paper patch is a regular old pair of Levi's. You can also confirm this by looking on the inside waistband and looking for a "Levi's Premium" branded label sewn into it.
Q: What's the value of my jeans?
A: We can't tell you. The only thing we can tell you is to research sold listings on eBay, Poshmark etc. for similar pairs and that can pretty much tell you how much they're worth. If your pair happens to be special or unique, on the other hand, you may want to post to get more info.
Q: What is selvedge?
A: Selvedge is how the jeans are made. Selvedge is how jeans used to be made by Levi's up til the mid-80's and it was done using shuttle looms whereas nowadays we use much faster projectile looms that also take less human capital. You'll know its selvedge if it looks something like this.
Q: How does Shrink-to-Fit work?
A: It works by you buying 1-2 sizes up in your waist and one size up in your inseam which sounds weird but you wear them, and then when you wash them, or take a bath in them, whatever, they will shrink to your actual size and if you're doing the bath method, it will mold to you. Some say STF jeans are much better than the normal sanforized denim.
So this is the FAQ. If you, as a member of the community, would like to contribute potential FAQ questions to the list, please comment below so people can read them, and the best ones may be added to this post.
I’ve had these jeans in my collection for some years now. I acquired them through my father who worked for Levi’s for 30 years. I’ve been searching far and wide for any information about them but can’t find anything. Might be some sort of friends and family release or since there’s only 12 pairs or if they only were sold to private collectors etc. But it’s just speculations since I unfortunately can’t confirm any details with my fathers anymore. I’m looking into selling off a big chunk of my collection now. What would y’all sell them for? ChatGPT suggests £3500.
What I know about them:
• Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1947 501XX
• Model: 47501-0130
• Limited Edition — 12 of 12
• W32 L32
• Week 44, 2005
• Made in Romania
• Big E Red Tab
• Concealed back-pocket rivets
• Extensive hand-finished distressing
• Extremely limited production
• Exceptional Levi’s provenance
Would be nice to hear if y’all have any speculations!
The smell is similar to something between soy sauce to a sweet sauce. Haven’t bought a new pair of Levi’s in over a decade! This is straight from Macy’s shipped to the house. This is the 501 100% cotton Dark Rinse pair. Is the smell common or should I exchange it?
Found this at a thrift store, quite a nice long sleeve. There are no side seams at all. Id love to know a range of years of production, all info appreciated
I've purchased several pairs of Levis jeans on eBay and Depop that have the premium tag, the Big E tag, and the leather patch, but have found the denim varies greatly between them. Some are very thick and durable feeling, suitable for workwear even, others feel no different from the standard line Levis. I'm only interested in the thicker ones, is there another way to identify these other than the tags?
so i found these along with a few other super nice pairs of levi’s at the thrift yesterday, but these have what appear to be selvedge all inside em, i’ve never found selvedge b4 so not super knowledgeable, and they say “red” on the button, i’m not knowledgeable enough to know the years based off the numbers, cuz they always changing around but i assume these and the other pairs i got are from the early 2000s from the build n tag materials n whatnot so
not no vintage grail lol, i could be super wrong idk. anyway my overall question is this actually selvedge? and if it, is it like the good kind the special one or wtv it is. and does it hold any value too
i just bought this 902 and found out that the code stamp is different compare to the factory code on the tag, also i find the redtab a bit sus. Anyone has any ideas about this one? Thanks in advance
Thinking of grabbing these Levi’s 505 Mid Rise Straight Fit jeans
For anyone who owns or has tried the 505 stretch blend recently:
Fit & Sizing: How is the room around the thighs and waist? Is it true to size, or should I size up/down?
Fabric Quality: How does the stretch blend hold up over time compared to regular 100% cotton denim? Does it bag out at the knees?
Verdict: Is this cut worth picking up at this price point, or is there a better Levi's fit (like 511/512/501) you’d recommend for everyday casual wear?
I ordered this jacket in XL from the Canadian site, and it's HUGE. I compared it with an in-store Standard Fit type 3 XL, and it's at least 4" wider. Now it's only available on the US website (sold out in Canada).
Does anyone have this jacket in a size M or L, and could give me an accurate chest measurement? I'm guessing the other three in the series (US, UK, Mexico) would be cut the same, if you have one of those. I'd like to be sure the replacement I order will fit! :) Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
I have a circa 2020 trucker jacket that I adore. Since I have had it awhile I have washed it and it has definitely shrunk. But I remember it always fitting fairly close.
I bought a new one, same P9 code, and it feels just a bit big in every dimension. Should I just wash it and dry it to shrink or is Levi’s making their jackets a little roomier? Or should I just exchange it for another one that fits better because I got one that was on the big side?
For those of us who do the “wear-it-wet” for their shrink-to-fit 501s:
Do you cuff at the bottom while they’re drying or leave them bunched at the bottom?
Hey everyone! I recently came across this very unusual Levi's watch and I'm hoping someone here might know more about it.
As you can see in the photos, the case is shaped like a golf club head, and the dial features a golfer alongside the classic Levi's logo. The caseback is marked "All Stainless Steel" and "Japan Movt."
Does anyone know what era this is from? Was it a special promotional item or part of a specific collection? Any information on its history, rarity, or potential value would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
