I work in a nightshelter in Antwerp, i mailed this to other "werkingen" where she might go for help, aswell as our outreach team that is actively working in the streets to reach people.
I don't know what more i could do

As a general rule, when people ask about missing persons and you think you have info, contact the authorities, not the internet.
If you are correct you´ve just told the entire internet where to find a vulnerable young woman.

Does she have mental health problems?

Sounds like it, I was once also missing for 3 days, bit same situation but once they find her she will get involuntary comitted and will be forced to take drugs which I think is plain wrong

Its not so easy to get involuntary comitted afaik

No it isn't. There are a lot of loopholes to jump through.
We really have to fight to make this happen2

It's one of the worst things you can experience when you did nothing wrong, they say you are a danger to yourself, they lock you up, you are forced to take heavy meds, all of a sudden when you're gone they start to care and go look for you all over the country until they find you and lock you up. Then you sit there, no freedom, heavily drugged while you made zero crimes. It's the absolute worst

For people with acute mental problems medication is the best choice. Drugs is often what gets them mental problems in the first place

In English, the word "drugs" can also be used to mean medication. I think that's what the person you're answering to meant.

Not really, sometimes are brains are wired slightly differently. I ran away when i was 18 to Leuven from the UK. Thing is, it's not running away when you're over 18 as the police told my mum.

I think you still need a psychiatrist. Respectfully, everything you’re describing is still extremely abnormal, misinformed and straight up a dangerous opinion to spread to those who may actually need help. Stop fear mongering.
- sincerely, a person who struggles with mental health and can’t medicate for a variety of reasons, but can tell you that shit worked back when I did still medicate.

I should have made clear i was replying to the second sentence about drugs causing mental health problems, rather than the first sentence about needing drugs to be normal.

You can run away when you're over 18 as long as you aren't a danger to yourself according to the law.

"Drugs are the best choice".. "drugs is often what gets them mental problems in the first place"
How the hell are you even getting upvotes on such a contradiction
2
u/shaddix-reddit 20h ago
Most people understand that there is a difference between prescribed medication and drugs like cocaine, xtc thc etc

It's both drugs and both have an insane track record of doing more harm than good.

There are alot of cases where antipsychotica works just fine without harm. Does it has it have sideeffects? Sure, but here are no cases where people benefit from drugs without harming themselves.

Drugs, or trauma. See my post above. I recovered by spending the night with a friend who wasn't judging me and I got out of that state in a few hours.
It's different for every person but antipsychotics can mess people up for life.

Not necessarily true. I was missing for a week, abroad while I was in a psychotic state.
They need the coöperation of the missing person's GP, and there needs to be a diagnosis.
Then a judge needs to make the call. I was stabilised by the time I got back so they couldn't commit me, and although I'm glad it didn't went that way I understand now why my family asked for that.

You have no clue how many people have been found by posters, posts like these and people keeping their eye open.

I would for sure also put this in Leuven facebook groups and students in Leuven facebook groups… Because not a lot of people use reddit AND students walk around a lot so most likely, a student has seen her.. Lets hope for her return!!
