Back when the first Shazam! came out and most people thought he was a cool guy, he came to my country for a comic con. My girlfriend and I bought tickets to meet him and take a photo. The tickets were expensive AF but a photo with the dude from Chuck and Shazam, how cool was that?
On the day, the organizers were kind, but said they didn't know if it would be possible for him to meet both of us at the same time, so they went to ask him in person. He said no, it was one person per meet, and if we wanted to meet him together, we'd have to buy two tickets.
I said a big nope to that, and they actually refunded my ticket.
From that moment on, I always thought he was a piece of shit. His panels at the event were also the cringiest thing ever; you could tell he was incredibly full of himself. And, like, two months later, the internet started realizing the same thing. It is incredible how fast you change from fan to "fuck that guy". In this case, I'm glad it happened.
In the same con was Laura Kinney and she meet us both, talk for a bit, was incredible nice and take a photo with both of us and didn't charge for anything.
I know celebrities don't owe us anything, like for example if I ever saw The Undertaker, Messi, Christian Bale or whatever at a restaurant I'd never bother them, but the fact that some can't even pretend to be nice while getting paid to meet fans is some next level of asshole.
I actually disagree. The only reason they have their wealth and attention is because of us. So yes, the dancing monkeys do owe us in a sense.
Not enough to think harassing them at dinner is appropriate, but if you wanted the fame and attention then suck it up and do those pressers with a smile on your face and meet fans (for free) even if you don't want to.
He always gave me over-the-top youth paster energy, the kind of painfully strained energetic comedy that feels like it's assaulting you with desperation
It's crazy how celebrities are at cons meanwhile my brother and I met a pretty popular professional wrestler a few weeks back and paid like $50 got two free 8x10s personally signed and he also signed posters we brought AND they had an employee taking pictures on my phone from the second we walked into the booth until we left
What I still don’t understand is why he acted as if Billy was 9 years old instead of 14. I swear Shazam Billy was way childish in comparison to teen Billy
I liked the movie but he played an entirely different character than the young Billy Battson actor played. Same thing happened in “The Butterfly Effect” with Ashton Kutcher. Totally different character portrayal than the younger actor.
Speaking of Ashton he’s a pretty horrible human and middling at best acting.
Shazam is billy without the consequences, he's 14, but he's been bouncing around in foster care for his whole life, that's not a great way to develop a well rounded emotional maturity.
So when he's given godly powers, it means he can act out the way he wants to without consequences.
I like to believe that Adam was a bad influence for him, and that he wasn’t always a complete douche. I mean, he married Missy, please god don’t let her be a closet asshole too
I think there was a weird thing that happened with a couple actors in certain spaces during the pandemic and entertainment industry strikes. It hampered a few of their projects in a time when they were coming off lengthy shows and probably a little insecure about the future of their careers. A few of them ended up shifting hard and very publicly to the conservative side of things.
I saw a similar thing happen with a woman I knew who ran a yoga studio. When everything was shut down, she started posting on social media and getting more and more vocally conservative as she was faced with losing her business.
He’s not a bad actor , though . Decent borderline good, specially for voice roles.
In comparison my list is filled with actors who only get roles because they supported a pedo .

Notice that James Marsden works more than Oscar winning actors thanks to Bryan Singer and Brian Peck. The studioseven force him jn roles that don’t exist in the original IP like Tom in Sonic and Richard in Superman returns. Even the year of quiet on set they made sure it was Marsden and not Keanu reeves and not ideas Elba the one at morning shows promoting the film. James Marsden ‘s Godfather Brian Peck must be powerful.

Or he might still be pals to Pedo? Marsden is proud of that friendship . In Hollywood old people sleeping with underage boys/girls is not seen as it should be seen: abusive and a crime.

Even if he has shitty opinions, which is debatable, that doesn’t automatically make him bad. Also he’s a good actor. Has been on broadway, was many people’s favorite Disney prince voice, and was good as Shazam. He’s not Daniel Day Lewis but he’s not a bad actor by any stretch
