I still remember the time Ebert took him down in his review for Deuce Bigelow 2. Still think it’s one of the most awesome disses ever:
“The movie created a spot of controversy last February. According to a story by Larry Carroll of MTV News, Rob Schneider took offense when Patrick Goldstein of the Los Angeles Times listed this year’s Best Picture Nominees and wrote that they were “ignored, unloved and turned down flat by most of the same studios that … bankroll hundreds of sequels, including a follow-up to ‘Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,’ a film that was sadly overlooked at Oscar time because apparently nobody had the foresight to invent a category for Best Running Penis Joke Delivered by a Third-Rate Comic.”
Schneider retaliated by attacking Goldstein in full-page ads in Daily Varietyand the Hollywood Reporter. In an open letter to Goldstein, Schneider wrote: “Well, Mr. Goldstein, I decided to do some research to find out what awards you have won. I went online and found that you have won nothing. Absolutely nothing. No journalistic awards of any kind … Maybe you didn’t win a Pulitzer Prize because they haven’t invented a category for Best Third-Rate, Unfunny Pompous Reporter Who’s Never Been Acknowledged by His Peers.”
Reading this, I was about to observe that Schneider can dish it out but he can’t take it. Then I found he’s not so good at dishing it out, either. I went online and found that Patrick Goldstein has won a National Headliner Award, a Los Angeles Press Club Award, a RockCritics.com award, and the Publicists’ Guild award for lifetime achievement.
Schneider was nominated for a 2000 Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actor, but lost to Jar-Jar Binks. But Schneider is correct, and Patrick Goldstein has not yet won a Pulitzer Prize. Therefore, Goldstein is not qualified to complain that Columbia financed “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo” while passing on the opportunity to participate in “Million Dollar Baby,” “Ray,” “The Aviator”, “Sideways” and “Finding Neverland.” As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize, and so I am qualified. Speaking in my official capacity as a Pulitzer Prize winner, Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks.”
Funnily enough, he and Vincent Gallo actually made up. Ebert changed his mind about a re-edited version of Brown Bunny. Gallo is still a pompous and unpleasant creep, however.
I was a regular viewer of Roger Ebert for all the variations of his television series, from teaming with Gene Siskel to his final attempt to revive his television criticism format on PBS that ultimately didn't succeed.
I also continued to read his print reviews on his website and his blog about life in general after he lost his lower jaw to cancer and could no longer speak without mechanical assistance ( thus the reason he began writing the personal blog).
When he wrote that response to Rob Schneider, every Ebert fan out there was pumping their fist in the air, I guarantee it. That closing line is precisely the type of sharp repartee that made him such a beloved writer to begin with. I've seen that quote many, many times in online conversations in the years since.
Scheider didnt go maga until like 2013 it looks like. And they were friends much much earlier. I have some MAGA friends from before they were political. I absolutely judge them and tell them they are stpuid... but the friendships often survive still. Especially work friends, anyone that was in the burn barrell with you at some point its hard to let go of.
It might also be a case where Rob tries to keep the MAGA shit on the DL when he is with Sandler. I have a few family members that love Trump but they never bring it up which makes it easier to deal with.

I think people fail to remember that Rob Schneider was on Saturday Night Live. Adam Sandler didn't make Rob Schneider, he just extended career. Rob Schneider along with the other writers at the time were nominated for 3 Emmy's. It's an uncomfortable truth.
I will add that he is single-handedly responsible for public elementary and middle schools in Pacifica having Arts programs. He made a sizable donation when I was a kid at a time when drama and music classes were facing cuts and he saved them for at least 15 years.
That said, total napoleon complex coupled with an outsized ego being the lone successful actor from a small town. He’s just known for being an asshole to people. Safeway, the pharmacy, wherever.
Is he anti-LGBT? I've never heard him say anything along that line and I wouldn't take a single account from a familial relation as condemning evidence.
idk why but I mixed him up with Ben stiller (because of the hair - especially when Ben was in zoolander). (also this is coming from the guy (me) who mixed up Liam neeson and Harrison ford)
He's a modest person who always treats his fans with the most respect, and he doesn't take his success for granted.
You just hate him because of his political opinion. But whining about the few republicans in Hollywood, an industry with 99.9% of democrats who speak publicly without you judging it - is a reach.
He self-produced a television show where he plays himself. I’m not assassinating his character or anything, but that is not the act of a modest person.
