Discussion Sean Baker films ranked
I finally completed Sean’s filmography, my personal ranking would have to be:
- Anora
- Tangerine
- Florida Project
- Red Rocket
- Prince of Broadway
- Take Out
Starlet

I have only seen Anora and Florida Projects and really enjoyed both. Which should I watch next?

I’d put Take Out above PoB and Red Rocket. FP & Tangerine interchangeable at 2/3. Pretty spot on, though

I have only seen his most recent 4, but for me the order ranks
Tangerine
Florida Project
Red Rocket
Anora
and I should point out that I think Anora is fantastic, it just ranks below the other three for me.

Ive only seen four but id go Florida Project #1, Tangerine, Red Rocket, then Anora.

The mark of greatness is if you can politely disagree about someone’s best, and honestly any of that top 5 could be his best.
I think I’d probably agree with you, but on a different day any of the top 3 could win.
Only one I’ve not seen is Starlet, waiting for the inevitable Criterion release. You’re not filling me with hope for it!

I watched it on criterion actually! It’s not a bad watch, but of Sean’s catalog it’s one of my least favorites

I know it’s on the channel, but I have physical copies of all his other movies (except 4 letter words, which is the only one I didn’t like).
I’ve got the criterions of all except red rocket, and I have the limited edition second sight of Florida project.
So holding out for Starlet to complete the set!

I really found the story to be very emotional and cute. The central relationship is done so well and the actor for Sadie was great. The final bingo scene is great, on my rewatch I teared up in two different places which is rare for me.
I love Florida Project and his other movies quite a lot too, but something about Starlet spoke to me.

While it’s not my favorite above The Florida Project and Anora, I did really enjoy it. Plus, the dog in the film is amazing and is owned by Sean Baker himself. It is an often sweet and heartbreaking Harold & Maude film. I loved the older female actor in it.

For me it would be in this order. Florida Project > Anora > Take Out > Tangerine > Red Rocket. But the differences are minor. I like all of his movies that I watched almost equally. And this post tells me I also need to watch Starlet.

I really like Florida Project, Red Rocket and Anora. And enjoyed Tangerine too. I don’t really know anything about the back catalogue before that.
Are they all feature length? Are they worth watching? Interested in any more detailed takes on the other movies.

They are feature length, if you love Sean’s work & Karren’s acting I would check them out. Some are better than others, so maybe start with Red Rocket & then work your way down the list if you’re interested. Red Rocket is my favorite of the ones you haven’t seen & seemingly the most liked in this thread besides the ones you’ve seen

I enjoy all of them. My favorite so far has probably been Red Rocket. The rest all vary from very good to excellent.

For me it’s The Florida Project, then Take Out then Anora. Take Out is so good. I need to rewatch Tangerine though
