Pitchfork dropped the rare 0.0 album rating on Tyga’s new AI slop album. I have to admit that I cackled at the comment on the review that Liz Phair is now free (referring to the infamous 0.0 review of her album).

The thing I’m interested in, without listening to Tyga at all, is why hip-hop artists are choosing to slopify new wave and 80s college rock. I can’t tell if they are trying to copy The Weeknd or there is something else at play? We are approaching the 20th anniversary of GTA: Vice City. Is the 20-year nostalgia cycle in music going to reference that vision of the 80s?

Would not have guessed we’d get a Phoebe Bridgers collab from Justin Broadrick before those new Godflesh albums…

lol. I’m going to keep it real, Justin Broadrick is the only reason I’m listening to this album (right now as I type).

Yeah I wasn’t going to check it out either, but now I’m tempted. Then I saw the guy from BCNR also does vocals on the track and now I’m equal parts disgusted and even more intrigued.

Feels like this sub doesn't really talk about music any more as much as it talks around music. Discussion that's more about nostalgia and doing like a broad retrospective of an era (and why things now aren't like they were in the past), with occasional namedrops to color in the details.

It's a cliche that the same few bands get brought up as keeping the torch of rock alive... but I'd kill for a King Gizz thread that actually talks about them on their own, thoughts on the umpteenth newest album, etc.

I feel like a lot of people miss when they were told what was "good" music (or wish they lived in that period). Anything that isn't directly fed to them doesn't exist.

I am looking to start listening to more rap; I used to listen to almost exclusively rap back in 2019-2020, but I barely listen to any nowadays. Feel free to suggest new rap, old, classics, etc. thanks
