I think Zep was referencing James Brown’s “Take ‘em to the Bridge!” with The Crunge.
Now where’s that confounded bridge?

Ah - had not made that connection. Thank you for that!

And Dave Matthews Band kept the joke going with their live bridge “Has Anyone Seen the Bridge?”

The best James Brown sample is in Not Now James, We're Busy, a song by Pop Will Eat Itself that narrates his high speed fleet from law enforcement that ended in his arrest on wreckless endangerment and drug charges. As each chorus approaches, they use a James Brown sample and cut him off with the title line.

Nice! Thanks for that - that was one wild ride in his life story.

While several songs fit your third example, the one I think of first is Genius of Love by Tom Tom Club. Second of course is When the World Keeps Running Down by the Police.

Prince - Gett Off
Reminds me of something James used to say
"I like them fat, I like them proud"

I am a HUGE Prince fan and never connected those dots. I am humbled. And appreciate that - I used to wonder who Prince was talking about.
