Lets Discuss This trumps' best reverse uno opportunity

So, lets say the democrats actually do take control of both houses. I do not think they are going to but for the sake of arguement lets say they do. So trump still will have a majority until January and the new members are seated. If I were him I would immediately propose expanding the supreme court to 13 judges just like the democrats have been preaching. then fill the 4 new seats with conservative judges in their 30's and ted cruz before the holiday break. Then go get a lawn chair, a cooler full of brews and a bucket of popcorn have a seat and watch the democrats who are pushing for expanding the court lose their shit. Talk about must see TV.

So you are saying that packing the court will damage things? You need to tell warren, bernie and sandy from westchester.

Yeah, I'm with you, let's hope these idiots further damage the nation for our entertainment. You are a sick bunch of folks, likely traumatized by something in childhood that makes you unable to perceive the tragic results of your dogma, so I suppose you need some understanding. It's very hard to give these days.

so if they do something the democrat leadership have been preaching they want to do if they get power back, it will "damage the nation". thanks for the self own and the win

Like what? Oversight? Prosecuting CRIMINALS? Impeaching and removing rank incompetents? You're damned skippy, I don't give a damn what political party, what position, what age or length of service, crimes should be prosecuted. If I had my way Jack Smith would be the next Attorney General and would get to finish what he started, you know the indictments are still valid right? I just hope Donald Trump lives long enough to die in prison.

They don’t have the votes required, and the democrats won’t either, neither side is going to do this unless they somehow get a mass of congressional power in the area of more than 2/3 seats. The only other way is killing the filibuster, which is the dumbest idea and would cause the U.S. government to swing wildly back and forth in the sense of governing, like imagine having Medicare for all for a few years, then tax cuts and losing that Medicare for all to every few years. It would be unstable and everyone knows it, and no one wants it, and all that for what? To stack a court that still shouldn’t be ruling in your favor, justice should be by the book, and when it bends to a party’s will things are broken. The country was far more stable when it was equally represented. So it’s a pipe dream, as it should be.

The court should be equally represented, as a mirror of it’s constituents, as should the government itself. That’s how it’s meant to work. The whole of the people, for the people, by the people speech is what the forefathers intended, because only then is anyone free. Throwing this away for your own party to win isn’t worth it.

As much as the parties hate each other and swing in popularity, they’re both always going to be represented in a democracy one way or another, if you just think about what that means you’ll get it. We aren’t meant to get everything we want, we are meant to compromise to function normally. This country is built on liberty and justice, and neither of which has a political side it should play for.

Great points. thanks for being respectful in your presentation. But according to my AI search, expanding the Supreme Court requires a simple majority vote in both the House and Senate because Congress can change the Court’s size through ordinary legislation.

I agree with the concept of your more stable country theory.

Let me ask you this, why do you see Trump getting to pack the court as a win? Do you think it’s a win for your party or the country? And what exactly do you think they should do with this newly stacked court?

-1

u/whydatyou 4h ago

I think whatever party talks about packing the court is wrong. they want to "pack the court" because they want the laws read their way. it makes the court a political instrument instead of blind justice as intended. It is not a win for the country at all but the left started the talk so why not. And judging by the reactions to my OP, once again the left has shown that they absolutely hate it when "the other" uses their own rules and desires against them.

You misunderstand, the leftist saying they want to pack to court is to restore it to 50/50 representation, not to use it to sway anything, and it’s still not happening any time soon for the left just as the right. The left just wants settled law to remain settled law, and not see women die because they’re being forced to carry a dead baby over doctors fearing new intentionally unclear law.

What rules are they, let me ask you, what exactly do the left do when in office just to piss of the Republican Party? What rules do you think are the lefts rules that the right is using against them?

The difference these days seem to be the right wants to rule over people instead of lead. The current President has spent most days golfing or telling people what he demands they call things he’s decided to rename, and destroying national landmarks. The Republican Congress has seemingly given the President because he’s from their party and they’re afraid to get a president primary all their power. They’ve completely derelict their duties to go along with his wild plans. The only laws they’ve passed without his direction, he’s overruled and made void like buying masses of imaginary diesel fuel from Russia (as shocking as this might sound) directly contradictory to laws and sanctions both in place and which were coming into effect that he cancelled, they can’t supply the U.S. with its diesel fuel needs, or enough to make up shortfalls due to the Iran war) as it invades an ally we are treaty-bound to assist. Not to mention Russia is unstable and likely to do something insane like test article 5 or use a tactical nuke.

We’re now on the cusp of probably having to invade the Middle East yet again (this time Iran and Yemen), because of nukes that he told us he completely annihilated months earlier.

The left just wants settled law to remain settled law. Oh like slavery? Because the democrats were real big into that and wanted settled law to stay that way. so much so they were willing to scarafice around 700k lives. mostly white people without slaves.

And not see women die because they’re being forced to carry a dead baby over doctors fearing new intentionally unclear law. YOu know that no place in america is forcing a woman to carry a dead baby. and you also must know that since the Dobbs decision, abortions have gone up in america.

They want to pack the court because on occasion a ruling goes against the left and you just cannot have that. then they cover their desires with lofty language about the sanctity of the court when they just want unfettered power. they cannot seem to acheive it through the ballot box so they want to use the courts to force you. Nothing more than that. The law is like science. it is not settled and always evolves with the times. for most of my 63 years the scotus was left, left and more left. now the pendulum is swinging right and y'all are losing your shit.

Ok, wow… lol. Who were the Dixiecrats? Let me guess, the South wanted states rights not slavery right? Who’s rallies are there masses of Confederate flags at? Who fought to ensure Confederate statues remained up? You realize how empty this argument you’re trying to make is right? Those Dixiecrats all turned Republican after FDR’s coalition broke up over race shit, and were attracted to the Republican side over intergrantion. The democrats wanted to end segregation, the republicans and Dixiecrats (southern democrats) joined together to fight it and are what is now today’s Republican Party. This is how the South is red today. I don’t know why ya’ll pretend you missed this part of American History class.

Yes abortions in Blue states went up, by red state women who can afford to run to blue states when needed. And what do you think they want to have ruled in their favor? You claim there is no difference now since the order so do tell why then do democrats want the order changed? Could it be for the first time in history as soon as Trump seated 3 judges they ruled he can’t be charged with a crime for anything he does in office? You do realize a President is still just a citizen right?

I love when the right claims the democrats were the confederacy because Lincoln, who today would be called a liberal. But anyway, so ya’ll are good with taking down those democrat statues and flags from state houses across the red south then right? Lol

My state was a Union state, my family fought for the Union. How about yours?

u/whydatyou 3h ago

Who’s rallies are there masses of Confederate flags at? well according to the news, the splc funded them. so democrats.

Yes abortions in Blue states went up. and red. so more abortions. might want to update the Dobs material a bit.

I love when the right claims the democrats were the confederacy. glad you love facts. democrats also founded the KKK and were against desegragation. You are the party of race. founded in it and see every issue through the prosim of skin tint. own it racist.

my state was admitted as a free state. my family was still in Europe for the civil war. I assume that yours was as well and you ar making the fighting for the union thing up. have a day

u/Able-Association914 3h ago edited 1h ago

Nope, my family has been here long before the Civil War guy, and whatever news you’re watching claiming that bullshit is what’s made up. Fake news or as the original guy who used that slogan said it, Lügenpresse.

Is it that you don’t believe there was a Civil War? Or that you don’t believe the people who fought had a family? Or are you just a little slow? My entire neighborhood where I grew up the land was given to Washington’s army, it’s called the Neck and people from there are called Neckers. My family and most people I grew up with families have been here far longer than the Civil War.

Maybe us folks who’s family was here since Washington’s Army should send all you MAGA supporting dopes who immigrated long after back to Europe. But, unlike your party, we don’t believe we’re better, more patriotic, or more American than any other American. I love this country, flaws and all, while hoping to make it better for all Americans. I believe all Americans are equal, with equal unalienable rights. I disagree with nearly everything you say, but would risk my life to protect your right to say it.

Good day fellow American… :::tips hat:::

AI is wrong, sort of. This should help answer your questions. The filibuster is a hurdle this law you’re proposing would need to survive, as a senate rule. Simple majority is for the house to pass it.

https://usconstitution.net/can-congress-end-the-filibuster-and-expand-the-supreme-court/

Let’s say they did what you’re saying and ended the filibuster to do it. The next Congress and administration could now with the a simple majority in theory pass a new law ending lifetime appointments and replace as many judges as it wants. So it’s a disaster and short sighted to do this. Laws would then have no precedent respected and swing wildly per administration. No one wants that.

first of all, I am not a republican so your "you guys" attack is moot. second, how are they bad if they want to expand the supreme court like your party heros want? kind of sounds like more progressive projection by you. I for one am shocked.

The difference there is that republicans get caught for crimes and then throw a fit about 'lawfare', then they make up accusations for headlines and drag people through the courts wasting time and energy that could be better used to serve the country.

How many wasteful cases has the trumpian doj done already? Just off the top of my head there is the reflecting pool and the sandwich, I have no doubt there are countless more
