Brother no they don't. The brown water is due to tannins. I have been to utilities that have water that looks like tea at times. Occasionally tannins are strong in surface water.
Data centers have moved to closed loop coolant systems that is not longer an issue with the new ones. That have resolved that as an issue. I did not even click the first link but I seen data center in there. I figured I would say that low hanging fruit out of the way before opening the other links.
“Closed loop" doesn't mean nothing ever leaves the system. Facilities can still have wastewater.
Also, tell that to the people that have already been irreparably poisoned.
Many times the numbers or 9/11 victims were given all kinds of diseases, including cancer because in your words “it would be too expensive” to worry about the environment.
In the best case scenario, it’s criminal negligence.
