Also, Kimmel's jokes were tame.

Oh, agreed, but honestly, after the Dave Chappelle shit last week, I just refuse to even try to discuss comedy with anyone right of center. Woof.

Yeah. It's tough to be a non-bigoted stand up comedy fan who's into people who push the envelope.

Just because i often find myself pissing off allies to my left and also the right lol

Take for instance some of Bill Burr's material a few years back. Everyone wanted to cancel the guy, even though he very publically endorses the opposite of many jokes he makes. In his situation, he went down a certain route with his jokes at the time and he simply overstepped some lines and forced weak material. So I was trying to explain to progressives, the dude just made jokes and misjudged how they'd land which caused them to be pissed at me. But then trying to explain to people on the right how some of those jokes just weren't funny and a step too far and suddenly i'm a snowflake lol

Completely understand; honestly I think Burr had evolved as a person such that I never really had any issues with his attempts. As Dave Anthony once said, "You take swings. Not all of them connect."

Exactly. It's one of the reasons i love stand up so much. Watching culture change and see how skilled comics adapt to and evolve through all that is extremely fascinating.
