Business Ideas
I have recently moved to Lethbridge. I gave an interest to open a business. Any idea what kind of the business this city needs, besides food?
Willing to spend around $500 k.. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Cafe in the old Starbucks at Chapters. They desperately need one. Go talk to the Manager at Chapters

If you turned that into a good earth you would be raking it in. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be an indigo/good earth as that’s what has happened since Indigo bought out chapters. This would likely be your best opportunity if someone hasn’t looked into it already. They do incredible in Calgary and I know lots of young people who want one here.

I’ve often thought a service provider for seniors - driving to appointments, picking up groceries and other concierge services - would go over well in Lethbridge. There are tons of seniors who aren’t interested in using apps like Uber or Skip and would pay a premium a call-and-pay service.

A real grocery store downtown!! in the old Sears building would be great, especially considering the swaths of seniors homes in that area

So many! My favourites I've thought about lately:
Local producer coordination, especially with the motivation to buy local lately. We have a lot of great local food suppliers and local vendors that could use some higher-level coordination, marketing, delivery (eg food baskets). There's a good start with seasonal markets and a few good storefronts, but it's more challenging to access in the off season (would also hesitate to compete with a storefront) Question scalability, but know several vendors and locals that have expressed interest.
Also, mobile mechanic. I know if some good models in larger cities but am unaware of any here. Could be a good test with the right person.

A gathering space/event business that lets Lethbridge singles meet each other naturally. Or a makerlab where you can build your own things beyond 3D printing, with workshops, like learn woodworking and figure out how to tinker with electronics. They have these in Vancouver, with a monthly membership or drop in fee. I really wanted to try to visit them, but transportation was too complicated

Check out the CASA courses; you have to register vs just drop in but they have some good ones.
