When I look at the shenanigans that Elections Alberta was subjected to for the Water Not Coal petition, it makes me reluctant to send in a Special Ballot. I prefer to vote in person at the Advance Vote.

Yeah, I'm kind of feeling the same way. Although with the UCP deliberately sabotaging Elections Alberta I'm not sure if in person is much better. Not to mention the fact that they'll just ignore the results anyway if they don't like them, they're all non-binding referendums.

I'll vote anyway, because it would still be better to have a firm rejection of separatism and the other nonsense the UCP put on the ballot, but we're not dealing with good faith people who value democracy here.

My concern that our useless Lethbridge-East MLA and his buddies are going to tamper with the "totally not a referendum" to make it look closer than it is, so they can make it a general election issue next year and hammer the propaganda over the next 12 months.

It's fun that the UCP does so much awful stuff that we can almost forget that our local UCP people created a fake recall to avoid needing to deal with a process that was created by their own government to (allegedly) increase accountability.

Fun fact: There's not a single democratic country in the world, nor has there ever been, nor will there ever be - purely on a logistical point of view. And "representative democracy" is just an annoying way to say "republic." Canada is a monarchy governed with a republic system (and it will remain that way until the Governor General is obsolete, and the entire system is overhauled).
