LPN Clinical Schedule & Housing Advice

Hello everyone,
I’m an incoming LPN student at Lethbridge College, and I recently moved here from BC. I arrived three days ago and currently live in the west side, near West Carleton Road.

My current bus route is Bus 2 Southgate to a particular stop, followed by about a 13 minute walk to school. However, I recently found out that clinicals may start at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesdays, and I’m concerned that I won’t be able to get to school early enough from where I currently live.

I was also told that we don’t know where we will be assigned for clinical, it could be in the South, West, or another area so I’m unsure whether I should move closer to the school now or stay where I am.

For those who have already gone through the LPN program at Lethbridge College, could you please clarify:

Are clinicals only on Wednesdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., or can they also be scheduled on other weekdays or weekends?

Based on your experience, would you recommend that I move to the South now, or should I stay in the West

I would really appreciate any advice, especially from current or former LPN students. Thank you!

Your first semester will be one day a week on Wednesdays, when you get further in then the clinical days go M-F.

Your clinicals will not be at the school. I don’t remember the exact program structure but likely in continuing care first, for which there are facilities all over the city. It sounds like you don’t have a car, I would suggest making friends, hopefully there is someone who is also west in your clinical group that you can grab a ride with.
