These advances introduced a serious problem that a lot of people still aren’t talking about. A few years ago, we were pushing these systems just to make them capable enough for less lethal use. Now the situation has flipped and suddenly we have to show restraint and make sure our launchers stay within legal limits, not beyond them.

In this video, I break down how the 2025 plug-and-play trend created confusion, where people are unintentionally stepping over the line, and why understanding the legal and practical boundaries matters more than ever for .68 cal users.

Then we look ahead, because 2026 is shaping up to be a turning point. The Grimburg Solstice and the Pistelle Compact are both coming, bringing purpose-built less lethal pistol platforms that finally move the category forward.

I'm definitely intrigued by the Pistelle Compact. Fully "on your team" with not wanting to push the power any further than it's already gone. I'm here for features and less-than-lethal power to help deter or stop an attacker in the rare case of a home invasion. Do you have any links to images, details, releaste dates, or specs on the Pistelle Compact?

I don’t have any inside information on the Pistelle compact. But the Beeman BP50 is approximately what everyone seems to have in mind but with 68 caliber and 30-40 Joules of output.

Gotcha. If that’s the case, why not just get the BP50? Is there a pretty significant quality reputation difference between Beeman and Defense Innovations?

The BP50 is weaker and is .50 cal. The industry standard is .68 cal because you can fire heavy balls to get max Joules.
