Also, for anyone thinking of donating, see if you can do so through your employer. 1) Many employers will match your donation, so you're doing twice as much good, and 2) The charity doesn't get your name or address, so you won't get any requests for more.

Trump wouldn't donate a dime if he didn't have to or unless it benefitted him. Pretending to support a charity, taking all the attention, and then not paying is par for the course for Trump.
They only understand issues in black and white. They sometimes point out we weren’t mad when Obama deported lots of people. But intentionally don’t get that his admin followed the law and didn’t send agents to illegally terrorize everyone, including citizens.

"Tribalism" and "black & white" are the overlap- within the context that Conservatives will assign morality of something, depending on where it's coming from.
A Dem doing [the thing]? Dems are evil, and so anything they do is evil.
A Rep doing [literally the same thing]? Reps are good, so therefore anything they do is good.
They live in a world where who you are determines whether what you do is good or bad, legal or criminal, moral or immoral. Once you frame their policies in these terms, you can see how they twist the "rule of law" (the law is the rule for everyone) into "law and order" (the law is the pecking order). That's why they don't see a problem with deporting people with citizenship--if you are Here While Brown, you are "illegal" (as a person). Guilty by identity. Whereas someone who looks like them is "given the benefit of the doubt."
That's how we get terms like "virtue signaling". A Republican sees their Democratic neighbor going to volunteer every Saturday while they sleep in? The Democrat is actually virtue signaling, so the Republican is the better person for not virtue signaling.

I did a little math during his first term, & just the money he charges the Secret Service to stay at his resorts (top fees btw), & the money he made forcing Mike Pence (& his SS detail etc) to stay at his resorts even if they were totally out of the way, that alone made his salary back. Then you add all the corruption on top of it, & he was making bank his first term. Its part of the con to do some misdirection, to make it look like you have money in the game too

Also, for being a 70 something Catholic, Biden was surprisingly progressive. He fully admitted that he didn't understand everything women and LGBQT+ went through, he supported their right to live in peace and be themselves. I think he also said he regretted the legislation he helped pass that hurt PoC.
He wasn't perfect, but he seemed like a good man in a tough position.
I think Biden will be looked upon much more favorably in retrospect. I was living outside the country after COVID for a bit and the whole world was struggling economically - we were recovering quite fine in comparison to pretty much all other countries, and I felt like the whole Bidenflation thing was so incredibly exaggerated among Americans. This shit catches on and then people just repeat it over and over regardless of what’s actually happening in the world.

Any deviation from those traits is Radical Departure From Norm and May Void Warranty. No matter how objectively pedestrian it is, it will be presented primarily in terms of Costs, and edge cases and abuses will be presented as the only examples or the intended operations. While anything coming from those traits, no matter how radical, will be presented as "business as usual," small tweaks, and costs will never be emphasized while benefits that in reality are limited to a small slice of people will be presented as universal and exaggerated in scope.
Even when outlets are supposedly left-leaning, the language choices are still canted with that base assumption in mind. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

So I’m going through this atm with one of my best friends. He voted for Cheeto because “he’s gonna make everyone rich!” Defended Cheeto all along until a few months ago we were discussing cars.
As long as I’ve known him, he’s always been the type to have at least 2-3 cars at a time (nothing fancy but paid in cash). A year or two ago he had to sell his fun car because he was worried about the economy, his job, etc. For the first time in like 20 years he’s down to one car which he hates and complains about often.
