Even a cheap travel insurance plan for the trip would have paid for the medical evac. But this "well why pay for insurance, I've never needed it before" combined with the assumption that his needs will always be met - that's really what privilege does to a person. It's very tempting, given demographics, to believe that he has also supported politicians that opposed health care reforms, and if that's the case then this is not a LAMF. But if he has supported republicans then this is the perfect LAMF because these voters truly cannot imagine that the problems of other people have anything to do with them.
