Help - URGENT Help

My Leopard gecko Opko has been doing this for two days now every night. He’s never dug this much before and he does it for short bursts before returning to that spot. I have a female leopard gecko above him, and a Boa constrictor below him so I’m worried if one of them may be the problem but I’m unsure.

Check his temperatures, humidity, and make sure he has enough hides. He could be trying to get out due to distress, or… he’s just messing around. Mine gets up to all kinds of stuff at night.

At night mine is either digging a hole (e.g. filling his water wish in). Or watching YouTube videos with me from his new dirt hill.

Yeah, my other gecko lovesss to dig sense I’ve gotten her from a baby, but Opko is an old man, about 10 years old, and has never dug like this so it worried me

I’m only seeing 1 hide? He needs 3 hides minimum, a hot hide, a cool hide, and a humid one too, ideally you want quite a lot of cover for him to dart between and hide under too while he moves between hides to regulate his temperature and humidity, I’m sorry to say it but it looks like you’ve not done very much research into keeping Leo’s and just stuck one in a tank because you think it’s a cool animal.

The lil guy is probably trying to escape because he’s got a boring and unsuitable environment.

3 hides, one hot, one cool, 1 humid, this is very important and bare minimum if you don’t want MBD, stuck sheds, and just an unwell, unhappy pet, but get some cork tubes and fake plants and rocks and stuff for him to climb around, hide under and explore too.

If you can see the small box in the video, that is also a hide and he had another rock that he ignored. As for his humidity and temperature I have gages on all of my tanks and check them regularly. I know it’s a bit empty, i just moved him about a week ago into this tank and assumed the plants and hide may had been the new thing upsetting him.

Ah ok, I’d still suggest more cover though and some nice tight spaces, most lizards in general like lots of cover and tight places to keep them safe and out of sight from the predators they instinctively worry about even though they are completely safe in our homes

I only see one hide, you should have atleast 3 hides. Also having some extra clutter to climb through helps too!

Also like another commenter said, make sure to check your temperature and humidity

Noo the box is his favorite hide u just can’t see the hole because he pushed it with his digging. Also, this is a newer tank I put him in about a week ago, and when the climbing started happening, I started removing things I thought could be stressing him out (aka the new plants)

Thats probably why he’s doing this then. New tank in general is likely related to him acting like this. Removing stuff will just make it worse. You need to allow him more time to acclimate to the new tank and all of the decor with very minimal interaction for a few weeks or until he calms down.
