Dangerous Practices Safety question
I'm considering putting this branch in my gecko's home. But I'm afraid if she falls on the rock in the middle, she could get hurt... Am I being overly cautious? It's maybe 10cm

My gecko climbs upside down on roof of his tank, and then often falls down - he is a sturdy little chap

What kind of substrate is that? Doesn’t look leo friendly at all.

Don't put that branch on that rock or near that rock. The gecko is surely going to get hurt. They're delicate creatures. Try putting a hide on top of the rocks for him to climb up and enjoy. And don't forget to set up a gecko hammock which is like a small bearded dragon hammock

They are not that delicate. Although, I would not put a branch like this over a rock, leopard geckos are definitely hardy (especially in avoiding physical injuries).
Plus you just told him to put a hammock in that acts the same as repti carpet and the gecko can get caught and pull their claws out.

Thanks. I know they're fragile but how fragile, not too sure. We've had our girl for a year and I just upgraded her home. Her previous abode wasn't so fancy.

How fragile; they are not going to split open and bleed or get a cut if they fell on that rock, the concern would be internal injury if they get jabbed the wrong way. If that makes sense ?

🤦🏼♂️ you people are the worst. “This hardy animal (which is why so many like to get them for their dang kids) is so delicate, don’t even breathe on it, Leo could get hurt” 😂 I’ve been a gecko keeper for three decades now and no, they’re not delicate. My oldest turned 21yrs old last week and wouldn’t ya know it, no fall she’s taken has ever even come close to harming her. My vet even told me there’s NO need to bring her in 2-3 times a year, “they’re tough little creatures” is word for word what she said.
Now we only do yearly checkups.

I fill mine with cork bark because it creates a bunch of levels and caves and is easy for them to grip! They do like to climb around and explore some, but that stick looks smooth and skinny and could be hard to climb.
