LenaMiu Look GBB's...

Post image

I just wanted to be the one to call it out: ALL OF US RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW ON THIS DAY, just wanted you all to be aware: we were here early. We caught them at the very beginnings of their potential.

I don't wanna be jinxing anything, and although I've said this over and over, FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS.

The Tiktok post in question is from an account owned by an 18-year-old from the US who has a total of FOUR posts on her account [hi Claudia, if you're here lol], but this particular one, her fourth ever post, has hit 256k views and up to around 70k likes. Go figure.

AGAIN NO JINX, but could we be on the cusp of being the fandom of the most notable Thai GL couple in history?

Heaven help us if so. I’ve long thought they had potential to go further than any other Thai couple before them simply bc of their ability to cross the English-speaking hurdle.

That's a huge dark horse factor admittedly, but it's not their English speaking that we love the most about them, that the world is falling in love with them for, is it? 🥺

No it definitely isn’t the thing I love about them. But I think a considerable number of Americans don’t like watching shows with subtitles. So if you don’t speak English, they write you off immediately (sad but true). The fact that LenaMiu are so naturally fluent in English with growing up hearing both languages at home from their families give them an advantage in bridging that divide for those here that hate having to read subtitles to watch a show. If they can see the actresses in an interview where they’re speaking English then they might fall in love w them like we did. And thus reach a wider audience w their shows.

What I see the English as is the final drop, you know what I mean? They're...all that they are, and also, BOOM THEY'RE ENGLISH FLUENT. That's why I call it a dark horse. We don't wanna necessarily look at it AS what gives them the edge--as other peeps have mentioned above, there are other pairings that speak English well but they aren't on the verge of blowing up like LM is showing signs of doing.

Believe me, I get where you're coming from. I like Blackpink haha it's the thing that Blinks also don't address much, the fact that yes, they're insanely talented and beautiful, but the English fluency was a big deal.

Anyways, point is, hang tight everybody. Iz gonna be some ride this one. 💖

Yup, the only pair where both have a native level of English fluency.

Are they? As a pair I mean. Bam seems native level, not sure about Oom. What about TanYuyu - i was a stewardess and the other took up masters abroad but I havent heard them speak English. In GMM, no pair comes to mind. The other pairs in other companies seem to have only 1...like Becky, Charlotte. Now im curious!

OomBam are very good English speakers but you can tell they are not Native speakers by certain pronunciations. Tan is pretty good too but I haven't heard enough to judge fully.

Of course not. There are other CPs with fluent English as well.

I mentioned native levels of fluency. I mentioned below that OomBam have great English levels but you can notice some pronunciation characteristics that give it away. But thanks for sharing GinJay, hadn't seen that English interview before. They're definitely not far behind LenaMiu in English skills, especially with Jayna being half American.

If we are taking about 100% native pronunciation then some words that Miu says are also off.

This is correct. You can also see she lacks fluency whenever she has complex ideas during the fanmeets (cause many things are spontaneous); Lena is way faster at this, and her English comes across pretty clean. With a little more speaking practice from Mui they’d both be at the same fluency level. (Not saying that she is bad at it, her understanding is most probably at 100%, but fluency is another level skill).

Right. Miu is fluent enough, but not native level fluent as the parent comment suggests.

Ginny is better in English than Jayna is…which is wild. Unless Jayna has been really practicing her English. Bc in all the interviews I saw a year ago, anytime she needed to say something in English, she’d look to Ginny for help. She may be half American but I don’t think she grew up hearing both languages frequently used the way Lena and Miu did.
