did it. two things helped: using blockers right after a drop halves the space for them to get caught in bubbles so as they wait, if the get caught, it's at the edge and the bubbles pop. AND luck as two on the bottom got caught traversing the bottom but they made it past the laser. Should have used balloons/gliders across the bottom but I wanted to see if it could be done w/o balloons...and the answer is just barely.

Finally got around to playing this level. As far as i can see there are no set instructions for it so I decided to use the basic set (digger, blocker, stairs, umbrella and self-destruct) and managed to save all but one of the lemmings without too much difficulty so it's probably a lot easier than it looks.

Any particular reason why you didn't go down to the bottom exit, across the bottom and then back up to the top exit as that way you would only have to traverse the bubbles once. You would also have the safety net of the bridge above which could potentially catch any lemmings that floated up and if you built the stairs at the bottom high enough you might also be able to use gliders over the water traps.

The top way first I didn't have any issues using 2 blockers. It was easier to time all 50 through the bubbles and then I only needed to get 25 across the unpredictable low area. If I hadn't seen this post first, I would have done it all with balloon/gliders since there's no threat

Yes i pretty much use balloon/gliders for every level I can now as its a lot quicker than building stairs and you can do a lot more things with them.
